fans wont come on till the temp gauge is about 1/2 way up. takes a while if your just sitting parked waiting for them to come on, can take up to 20 minutes or more in this cool weather now.

they will also turn on if you turn the a/c on, if your a/c works.
 
The A/C works. I was parked for awhile just to let the warm since it had a hard time starting. It got to like close to a 200 temp. and still didn't cut on so I was worried about it. I live in buffalo so rite now our weather is kinda cold.
 
The IAC valve have been replaced and i'm still having trouble starting the car. When you let it sit for awhile, and then try to start it. It keep misfiring. Plus the rpm gauge still doesn't work. Is that the throttle sensor malfunctioning?
 
The car will only start on a cold start. If it's been running and then turned off. It won't start again until it's completely cooled down. When I took it back to autozone and had them scan it. They said that the computer had a P0336 code stored in it. Could the problem be from the mechanic putting it in wrong?
 


Did you do a case learn on the crank sensor? If so and it's still messed up you might need a different one.
 
Can any body tell me exactly where is the crankshaft position sensor. On what side, near where? Because there is two of them and I know where the first one is, behind the harmonic balancer. It's the other one I don't know where it's located at.
 
crank sensor is behind the harmonic balancer. and the cam sensor. but the cam sensor dont seem to go bad. not very common.
 
I've seen more cam sensors go bad than crank sensors. crank sensor behind harmonic balancer cam sensor behind power steering pump
 


I have to take the crankshaft position sensor back. Because the mechanic who put it in had to do it wrong. When he replaced it he used a screw that didn't even belong there. So basically now I have to go back over what he did, since he's not trying to do any thing about it. What I need to know is... How can I get the motor raised up high enough so my hand can fit in between the motor and transmission. It's in the engine block but i'm having a hard time getting to it. Any directions or clues would be helpful thank you.
 
that would be a knock sensor your talking about, the crank sensor ins behind the harmonic balancer.

The 3.1 has two CKP sensors the first is the 24x sensor located behind the harmonic balancer. The second one is the 7x sensor which is mounted on the side of the engine block. This sensor monitors the crankshaft position and speed for the ignition control module. It says that in the haynes repair manual, it doesn't say about how to get to it to replace it. It just says the basics... unplug sensor connector, unscrew 10mm bolt, remove and replace ckp sensor.
 
ckp sensor location.gifThis is where it's located at. I tried to up load a picture taken by my phone but it's saying that I exceeded the piture size limit. That view is from the back of the motor and that's a 3.1L 3100. The oil pan is under neath and then there's the transmission and back fire wall. How can I get to this part of the motor?
 
I was told I have to rise the motor to get to the ckp sensor. I already have the front to motor mounts taken off... now do I just need a jack and lumber to rise up the motor? Or do I have to loosen up something else? The car has a 3.1L 3100 engine in it so it has two ckp sensors... I've checked
 
not being familiar with your engine, id think you can still lay a 2x6 across the oil pan and tranny pan, then jack it up, just like you would to change a motor mount in a 3800.

remove the motor mount bolts before jacking it up. or you'll dent the pan. and the 2 dog bones up top.
