i think i threw a rod and or rod bearing.

sooooo my engine started to make a knock upon startup after it had sat for about 4 months. upon inspection it seems to be a rod knock and or thrown bearing i drained my oil and it is very mettalicy and i cut open my oil filter and it tons of metal particles. so im not sure if i should spend my time rebuilding my engine or just buy a used one. any opinions on what i should do and if there any good rebuild kits for a 97 gtp motor?

that was in the bottom of my oil filter and i couldnt get a good of the oil but it looked like candy rootbeer paint.
 


Sounds like coolant got into the oil, and caused the spun bearing.

A used short block is normally cheaper than full on machine shop work to rebuild a motor.
 
the oil wasnt milky at all there is now way the coolant got into the oil. my car never needed the lim gaskets to be done :P
