I know this has been asked before, mufflers???

I have a stock 2008 GXP. What suggestions do you all have for new mufflers that will give it more of an aggressive sound? I know there have been various threads on this topic, but I am just looking for a straight forward answer. Something simple that I can have done quick and a muffler shop. Flowmaster? Magnaflow? Other? What model and size? I have been on youtube and played a bit on there, but that only confused me more. So many choices. Also, thought on air intakes? Thanks.

Magnaflows usually are a bit on the quiet side, but definitely louder than stock. Especially wide open. That's where I'd go.

On the intake, I got a decent setup for my 08 gxp on eBay for $55 shipped.

I'll be cutting off my mufflers soon. Then depending how I like it, I might cut out the res also.

Might sound okay. Will sound better than a 3.8. Yeah I would just look around on Youtube and see what sound you like.

Cocor,

I cut off my mufflers but left the resonator and it made very little difference in volume. Next, I replaced the resonator with a Thrush glasspack (still no mufflers) sounds great but very loud inside. I'm thinking of adding either a set of Dynomax Super Turbos or, if you still have your factory mufflers, I'd be interested in buying them from you. I'm thinking the glasspack with some muffling may be just the ticket.

Thanks 91 but sorry I'm looking to quiet it down. I already have a 36" glasspack with straight pipes, now I'm going to add free flowing mufflers. It's either that or line the trunk with Lizard Skin.

We have the same setup, and even when you add straight through free flowing mufflers of any type it won't be much quieter , I have the 36" glasspack as well.

So, spray the trunk with Lizard Skin or line it with Hushmat it is. May as well fill the spare tire holder since the "spare" leaked sealant all over the place anyway and the inflator doesn't work either.

My exhaust looks stock, but sounds like a beast! As much as I would love to keep it like this and piss off the neighbors or anyone else within a 100 feet I have to fix it. I think my mufflers have holes in them but wont be able to tell till I can get under neath them or drop them. I dont feel anything coming out of my mufflers so I assume they are swiss cheese on top. I like the magnaflow sound, but at the same time I dont want to kill the kids riding in the back seat. I like the fact I have no spare tire and might coat it with lizard skin back there. Lots of great ideas, thanks!
