Dunno why you've heard ZZP sucks, because they're the guys who developed this helpful part, along with many others for 3800's. It's their own item, and therefore they are the only original supplier.
HV3's work great in L36/L26 upper intakes, to remove the restriction of the stock baffling cage, and increase LIM runner length for more top-end HP. You can read the old documentation on easyperformance.com (ZZP's sub-company where 2-3 of their guys developed many of the popular items used in our market, from AFC's to ZZP's fuel rails). The HV2 (H.V.I.I.) was improved upon, to develop the HV3, and not lose any low end torque with this item.
We have one in the UIM of the 11sec turbo Regal I built for a local, and it was previously installed in the UIM of an N/A Monte SS. In the Monte, we did a 1hr install, and pulled right back out of my shop. Instantly, he felt the power gains over the stock internals, and with a mild tune to clean up the pcm basics, he was very content with the setup... until we top-swapped it, and he jumped into a new world of fun this year. :th_biggrin2:
