How-to delete EGR.

Instructions: Unplug EGR valve from wiring harness. Unbolt EGR inlet tube from exhaust manifold (13mm). Unbolt EGR outlet tube from lower intake manifold (13mm). Unbolt two bolts holding the EGR valve pedestal to the head (13mm or 15mm). Remove entire EGR system from engine bay! Finally, find a way to seal the two holes you have just exposed. You should have something that looks like the picture below. Notice that the inlet tube is cut. That's how I got the collar off (it had a leak next to the inlet, anyway).

You'll have to either make or buy block-off plates or have the holes welded shut. I placed a penny in the old retaining collar to cover the hole from the exhaust manifold and RTV'd it to make sure it would seal, then I bolted it in just like the original EGR inlet tube. Next, I made a block-off plate out of a piece of sheet steel to bolt to the LIM. Put a little RTV around the hole, and bolt 'er down! Of course, now I have the hole blocked in the blower casing, too.
 


Iv never heard of deleting a egr before. What exactly happens when you delete the egr? And would you need to tune for it after its gone?
 
With no EGR, the exhaust is no longer being dumped back into the intake. Therefore, your intake stays cleaner, and, for some vehicles, you no longer have part throttle knock. If you completely remove the system, you will have to tune for it. If you want to, you can just set the system up so it still works, but sucks in fresh air, instead of exhaust gas.

suck in fresh air? you runnin the suction of the egr thru a filter? that's the first i've heard of settin it up to suck fresh air..

You just dis-connect and block off the exhaust side of the egr on the manifold and leave the tube hanging just sucking in fresh air.
 
I just deleted my egr because it kept throwing codes on me. I welded the exhaust hole closed, and i filled the hole in the lower manafold with jbweld. Worked like a dream...I always thought that egr systems are retarded...When i rebuilt my m90, my lower intake was jet black inside form that cap. :-( A quick tune and all the codes are gone. FTW.
 


seems kinda silly... isn't that just like runnin with no air filter but on a smaller degree?

I bought one of those "ricer breathers" from Auto Zone and stuffed it on the open tube.

I was able to add a little part-throttle timing due to not having the EGR. Later, when I completely removed the system, my MAF was a touch off, so I did a bit of fine tuning there.
 


i put a small filter on the opening for my egr to recirculate the exhaust. and im getting a P0402 code. is that something i don't really have to worry about.
 
so if i just disconnect the EGR outlet from the exhaust manifold, put a filter on it and seal the hole in the exhaust manifold, it will be sucking clean air and i wont have to worry about any codes?
