How much oil is to much?



I thought it was strange but I noticed it started leaking a bit and I see a little smoke off the exhaust on the back side of the engine after startup just after I changed the oil.. Thats the only thing that had changed so I assumed it was that.
 
I plan on changing them this week anyway. I just thought it was weird that it started leaking right after I changed the oil. Noob assumption lol.
 
A co worker had his oil changed in his car, and right after his car wouldn't start.

The two were as unrelated as you putting in 5 qts and your valve cover gasket leaking. I would venture to say you spilled a little bit of oil as you were filling.

Its smoking from the back side of the engine though? I don't think I would have spilled oil back there..
 
Some could of seeped out from the back VC on the manifolds. Keep in mind of the engine movement. It's very possible.

I did the LIM gasket on a girls malibu and while I had it out test driving it the fuel pump went out and she went around telling people that I made it go out when I did the LIM. Pissed me off but some people just don't know a thing about cars and figure well this guy did this and this completely unrelated thing went wrong so he must have done it.

I'd put a flaming rag in her gas tank, I hate those people.

true. My series 1 3800 leaked from the valve covers. They are easy enough to change. Burned no oil though :)

My 93 olds is 150K+ strong leaky valve covers and all.
