How much HP can a 4T65E-HD 2.93 trans handle

i just had my trans rebuilt in my 99 GTP they did all the basic upgrades there not a performance shop but its not an original trans if you know what im saying. what im wondering is what kind of crank horse power can this trans handle? stock is 240hp and 280torque. i was considering modding it to reach 300hp and 350torque at the crank

you'll be fine.

Just slap a transgo shift kit in there as well.

FWIW, it holds the same as a non HD: Not much when abused.

i was going to do Headers, cat-back, intake, overkill PCM, 3.4'' pulley, and all little supporting mods which i figure is about 300hp at the crank at least. you think my rebuilt trans can handle that? i wont abuse it but i wont baby it all the time

itd be fine at that power level.

add a valvetrain mod or two for 300 at the crank though.

you pulled up specs on a standard 4T65 not a 4T65e-HD

They will hold the same amount of power. and you might hit 280 with that setup.

My original trans is still kicking at 212K miles and I've had a 3.4 setup for about 8-9 months.

along with the appropriate tsat spark plugs and s/c belt

will this set up break my brand new rebuilt trans?

What will break your trans completely depends on how you drive.

i drive very slowly around town in my daily driving (with the price of gas in all) but i would do the occasional race and the flooring it to impress my friends you know how it goes

no, read it over again man. if you look it says engine ranges 2.5 to 5.3, and this spec sheet covers the mn7 which is the hd version of this trans. which is what is in my gxp.
