how many miles does your 3.8 have??





97 Grandprix GT 215K original motor and trans. A few leaks here and there. Unfortunately the waterpump decided to go out the other week...looks like another saturday devoted to my little red riding hood.
 
125,671 km OR 78,162 Miles on my beast (yes i did the conversion for you americans)

still runs and drives like a pin
 
It has 130,000 miles. I just purchased the car used and I believe that the car has a 2001 pontiac 3.8 litre engine in it so I really don't know how many miles is on the engine. I would like to know how many miles a gallon that this car gets and what kind of gas, premium or regular, will give me the best mileage. I do mostly city driving back and forth to work. What do I need to do to increase the gas mileage?
 
if its just a gt use 87, they can get around 16-20 city, depending on how heavy yuor foot is. 30ish freeway.

do a tune up for better mpgs. plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, you know regular stuff.
 


152,000 on an '03 GT. Trans broke the snap ring in the 2nd gear clutch pack at 136k, so I rebuilt it. Valve guide seals are getting a little leaky, but adding a quart of 40W keeps it out of the tailpipes. Other than that, it's a solid piece.
 
01 GT beeches. just did an oil change and replaced the pcv valve. drives like a champ, no bigger issues other than worn suspension. 159k miles.
 
1997 GT sedan 3.8 N/A dark teal metallic. Bought used at 84,000 on e-Bay in Nov, 2004 for 4,000. I have 154,200 now. Replaced the dreaded upper and lower intake manifold gaskets along with the upper manifold back in 2007 with the aluminum upgrade gaskets. Still running as strong as ever. Just replaced my resonator. My condenser back in 05. Both front wheel hubs and front sway bar last year. Swapped out my fuel gauge sending unit as well. Replaced all four struts in 2006 with KYB GR2's. I made the mistake of not replacing the upper mounts and payed for that a year later. Just replaced all four rotors and pads last month...
The message is clear...Take care of the car, it will last and last, especially these 3800's...I intend to drive this for another 100,000 if I can... : )
 
Now im up to 135k miles.Nothin major which im glad. Only things need to be done is suspension work nothin else.No leaks, shakes, shutoffs, hesistations.
