I have a 2004 N/A GP with 171k on it. I developed some occasional hard shifting which I attributed to a PCS issue. The problem would fix itself once I turned off the car relieving the pressure (I believe/read somewhere). Added some Lucas Oil and that more or less eliminated the problem. A few months later I decided to change the fluid and filter for good measure. I added a full bottle of Lucas Oil as well. Shifting was dramatically improved after.
Recently though its been hard shifting again. However, it is not nearly as bad as before, only a fraction of the harshness I had previously. I haven't had the trans codes read yet, but i'm guessing a P1811 code. Regardless of the code, I assume I'm looking at a high labor rate whether its the PCS or worn clutches per the information at tripleedgeperformance.com (a few hours away from me).
I don't mind swapping out the trans if that's the case, I imagine cheaper than a rebuild. My biggest question though is if I did install a TransGo shift kit and/or trans cooler what kind of mileage life will I get out of them before I need a another trans?
I'm not looking for an exact mileage but a ball park figure, if anyone can give me an idea. Please let me know if you have any thoughts, it's appreciated!!
