How do I change this lame 3rd brake light?

An eBay 3rd brake light vinyl in my eyes. Shouldn't have to remove the light itself to remove the vinyl.

Finger nail to a corner and just peel it off.

I should have known it was vinyl. Even after removing the pinstriping and a "Limited Edition" badge, I was just scared to try to take it off.
