Hood mods

so i know some people like to change their hood. i for one would love to fit a WS6 hood on my GTP. some eople add in the SE extractors. when i bought my car it came with this (not attached) and i plan on putting it on. previous owner says automotive double side tape and rivets(which is how he had it before an accident) and then i could fiberglass it on to make it permanent later. what does everyone think?

and how the hell do i post the damn picture without it being just a link?

There's a red GP I see around here occasionally with a fiberglassed SS scoop. The hood itself looks good, but it doesn't fit the car IMO.

You need to use IMG tags to post a pic.

In your link, below the picture, click "Get embed codes"

Copy the BBCode and paste it in your post.

thanks for the help with the pic posting, i didnt try the bbc code thing haha. so that scoop is known as SS scoop then? previous owner traded his whale tail spoiler for this scoop(as far as im told, and that sounds ridiculous), and i really wish he didnt.

The ammount of money you would spend having someone put that into the hood and paint it you would be better off buying a hood new for 500-800 or finding one used on craigslist.

if i was to do it my buddy said he would help me glass it in for just material cost and beer, and said we could make it "functional" haha. id probably keep it black and repaint the hood black, idk why i just like the black hood.

@speed demon- i saw that thread, if i had the extra cash id buy it ahha. might just put this ss piece on and call it a day until i find an SD/F1

Yeah that would be the same as the others!.....I gotta say I think shawns hood looks good with that scoop because of the custom work he did to it,not really sure what all he did but it looks good!.

Why would fiberglass crack on hood applications? I have had a fiberglass hood on my Stealth for 6 years with no issues.

If you mean about using fiberglass to attach something to the hood then yeah it's possible it would crack, but if it's done right it won't.

As for the hood in the original post, I have one thing to say

I would like a simple decent mode to help draw heat from the engine bay. I know the 40th anniversary cars had the hood scoops but would love something else just to be different. I like the functional CAI hood on the '84 trans am ('81 turbo trans am)I had but use it to pull the heat out. I plan to take take the car to a track day next year and would like to keep things cool.
