Home Depot DIY CAI not happenin!!

Ok well this is how I see the story unfolding. I want to "improve" the flow on my CAI on a 05. After leaving the plumbing section at Home Depot, I had gotten a few items for a 4" intake (they looked way too big.) Then after measuring and looking decided that it wasn't going to work I admitted defeat. Another trip to Home depot to switch the items for 3", now I'm excited looks like it may work. First thing I did when I got home was open the hood...... damn that will just make things way more restrictive. Anyways I have decided that no upgrade is going to happen unless 3.5" parts are found.

Thanks for listening

I will see what my Non backwater HD has available lol as I plan on doing the same, you got a cone already? where and $$?

I bought a cheap intake with filter off of ebay and connected it to my maff tubing. I'm looking to remove the accordian tube and replace it with a better flowing piece. I have to measure it properly first so I know what size to get.

I can get the 3" parts to fit thats not a concern. What worries me is visually I can see a size difference between stock components and 3". Yikes If i can see that I can just imagine how much less air that is getting into that motor.

you do understand that the computer tells the car how much air and fuel the car needs right????/

The 3in piping is plenty big enough for the air flow that these car can take in.

A 3" 45deg pvc tube off of the TB would be ok? All my other piping seems 3.5"
Just thought to go with stock size at least.

Just follow the write up. You'll be plenty fine with 3 inch tubing. Measure twice, cut once... Put it all together, take pics of your new intake, then take your car for a ride.

my first set up was 3inch. It does restrict. I was seeing over 100 less maff hz then when I switched to 4 inch. Ghetto yes....effective Yes...Everything I used came from Home depot.

My intake is a massive pile of win. No need to take out my left friggin' headlight. No need to every do anything to it again actually. However, yours was cheaper, quicker, and probably involved far less colorful language. Good on ya!
