HID recommendations

is there an hir bulb that casts a white light you can recommend? I know it wont be as bright as an hid but i dont really care, im just bored of my yellow headlights.

Phillips makes a set of HIR's. They will still look a little yellow but provide the most light output.

When it comes to halogen, I'm a Piaa guy. The Xtreme Whites are the whitest and brightest.

PIAA's are nice but the cost is a con. Phillips Crystal Vision is a nice alternative to the PIAA's if you wish to give those a shot. I just picked up a set to compare them to the Phillips Xtreme Visions that I have been using. The Xtreme Vision's I have, have started to slowly die out and are losing their light output.

halogens will suck regardless of what bulb is thrown in, hid is still night and day difference in stock head light, projector hid vs hid in stock headlight in night and day difference.

Itll be a better improvement to the stock yellow crap lights i have now so im sure Ill be happy with it. I doubt Ill ever care enough to buy and HID kit for 300 plus, maybe i will..

You can get HIDs for less than $50 but ones like that and even $50 ones won't last as long as $150 set. You don't need to purchase a $300 set of HIDs. Get the morimoto kit for $150

yes I run ddm, women runs vvme, I put vvme in brothers too.

p.s never replaced anything on either cars over the years.
i misunderstood your other post, I thought you meant they were crap. That seems like a bargain at 30 bux, is there anything else that needs to be bought or is it plug and play for 30? How
long have you had them

buy the kit:bulbs, ballasts and wire harness

I dont know the exact length of time, more than 3 years is the best answer I can give you.

I know nothing of the 04+ cars I have no idea if they are the same or not.

Install depends if your me or forrest gump, I did my car in 30minutes, womens g6 in 40min, brothers camaro 1hr. Time includes shutting the hood closed and going back inside.

Cost is still better than the sylvna ones. About the same as the ddm hids too but I'm sure they're more work with these you plug and turn

The pegs on the base of the HIR bulbs need to be trimmed just a bit. Other than that they are plug and play.

Late to the game here, my apologies... But here's my $.02

Hid's from the Retrofit Source are second to none, they produce a quality product and back it up (warranty). I have an HID kit from them I placed into NEW stock housings. Yes it can be done, two things are relevant, one is the filament on the HID lamp is positioned differently into the housing and if you measure the stock placement and subsequently mimic that with the HID's, the light thrown from the housing will be just the same, but more intense. Now, we all know the stock housings sux, so that is why many opt for the projectors as the projectors will put more light on the road where you need it.

Anyways, there was a write up on fixing the placement of the hid lamps correctly into the housing with stock headlights, search... If you can't find it let me know, I think I have some screen captures of it. And even then, I have my stock lights aimed a little lower than usual and I never get flashed... But they are bright, lol :D

that said... $280 is a steal, something I may consider for my GTP ; )

Can you briefly explain what steps took you 30 min?
