Hi lo equalizer question

if i have an equalizer for my rca's do i still need a hi low converter when i hook up an amp and speakers? Im planning on keeping my radio stock. Thanks
 


If you have a separate EQ, no. Use the outputs from that. Haven't seen an EQ used it quite some time. But know that the signal is gonna be crossed over at whatever your EQ is set at.
 
ok well lets say i dont run an eq. i want to run 4 amps. front, rear door, rear deck, and sub woofer. i know how i would split all the power and the remotes but where would all those rca's go to? Still planning to keep it stock

alright well this setup is going to be for my lexus but i have a pontiac too so i thought i might as well ask both forums and get input. I would like to run 3 amps. a 4 channel for the door speakers, a 2 channel for a rear deck speaker and a mono for a sub. but the 4 channel amp is too expensive and i already have a 2 channel amp layin around so i figured id just do a 2 channel for front doors, 2 channel for rear doors, 2 channel for rear deck, and mono for the subwoofer. I know how to split up the power wires and the remote wires but i didn't know where all the rca's would go. but im doing more research and i see there is a 8 channel multi line converter and i think that would work. If you have any other ideas i would greatly appreciate the help.
 
What year/model pontiac? What amps are you working with? The year/model of car is important so we can find where you full range signals are. You may be able to get away with just one 4 channel LOC. Depends on if your amps have outputs. If they do, you can link them (daisy chain).
 
actually since i have both a line in and line out on my mono amp i could go from the converter to the line in on the mono amp then the line out on the mono amp to the line in of the 2 channel amp
 
Yes...but you're looking at running 4 amps. You're signal will decrease from amp to amp to amp to amp......
 


isnt that where the 4 channel output converter comes in. I can daisy chain 2 amps to the first two channels then daisy chain the other 2 amps to the other two channels. correct? instead of amp to amp to amp to amp correct? or is there a better way?

LoL....yeah, a 6 channel and a monoblock. But with what you're working with, it will work. You want to make sure to pull a full range signal to your LOC. Can't remember on the Lexus' which lines were the full range.
 
so pretty much an 8 channel? lol and for the remote wires i should use a relay to distribute the power right?
 


so you would hook everything up to the right number (86,30,85,87) then you would daisy chain the amps? or do you hook all 4 remote wires up to 87
 
ok thanks. i have another question. the rear deck is just going to be one 10 inch speaker. the speaker is rated at 250w rms at 8 ohms. how do i get an amp to match that? most amps i see are at 4 ohms. Im pretty sure i need a mono amp for that speaker but idk where to find one to match the speaker
