HELP: no power now throughout car

fst

New member
heres a quick rundown:
i swapped in a new motor and installed a z7 kit. i attached all the power and ground wires from what i remembered and when i turned the key to accel on theres no power....not even interior lights come on with the door opened. the battery was fine a week ago when i had to shift into nuetral and push the car a bit up my driveway. so now the keys stuck cause of the trans lock which needs power to unlock and be able to get the key out.

i looked through all of the wiring and im stumped. ehres what i doubled/triple checked:
-alternator while connected to the alternator bolt
-ground wire attached to the motor to trans bolt
-small ICM ground wire i grounded to the chassis
-cleaned the direct ground connector from the neg terminal off battery
-starter wires: attached the 2 medium sized connectors and the large wire connector onto the large post off the starter. the smaller purple wire i have by itself on the smaller post. both posts are tightened down

i checked the voltage from around the area and got a steady ~11v. heres where i checked:
-neg terminal and pos alternator
-neg terminal and pos terminal
-pos alternator bolt to neg ICM ground
-pos starter post to tranny to motor ground
-pos terminal to ICM ground
-neg terminal to pos fuse box
-pos fuse box to ICM ground wire

im at a loss. theres current going through the motor but i cant seem to get any power to the rest of the car, ie-inside the cabin or being able to power on the dash etc. any help is greatly appreciated!!!!!

There are 3 grounds that go to the lower front bellhousing bolt, you get all those?

You can get the key out by pulling off that little cover on the center console and pushing something down on it, its a shift lock overide. Its marked.

what are the 3 grounds?i only notice 2....1 thick wire that connects to one of the trans to motor which i recall needed to get disconnected to pull the motor....2nd one is a smaller one thats below the 1st one which doesnt need to get disconnected.....where the 3rd one?

edit-unless the 3rd one is connected to the same one from the 2nd one i state above, they're both there/connected

ok, just as i thought, however the 2 smaller ones i never touched so they're still on the trans. the big one i made certain is bolted tight against the the stud coming off the motor to trans bolt.

have a custom manual fan switch that connects to the hi-speed fan erlay #1 and even if i turn the switch to "On" nothing happens. the 2 things i can recall that may had happen is when i was lowering the motor the oil filter housing was smacking and banging onto the large wire loom thats alongside the passenger inner fender. i looked around but found not races of any torn or damaged wires.

the other instance was when i was installing the turbo kit.....since the turbo dp was going to be close to the wires going to the tran switch range i shoved the wires as close to the inner fender as possible and zip-tied it to the lower bracket off the ABS module. other than that, i think im missing something that powers everything.....

-connect pos and neg terminals to battery (derr)
-ground wire directly connected to the neg terminal of battery
-connect the ICM ground wire to the chassis
-connected teh ground wire to the motor/trans stud as well as the 2 smaller ground wires below that
-connected the red alternator wire to the alternator end post
-connected the small purple wire to the small post off the starter
-connected the medium and larger/thicker wire connectors to the larger post
-the 2 small ground wires thats right on the driver side inner fender are still intact

what else am i missing?

and i dont see power wire connected to fuse box on your list

i checked all the fuses, relays, and maxi fuses and none are blown. what do u mean power wire? i had a 10awg wire going from the alternator bolt to the pos bolt on the fuse box.

yeah that wire is what im talking about....not sure this would matter but what about electrical reference plug on the alt and is the bolt tight on the ICM harness that fukker is sensitive i left mine just a lil loose once by mistake and my car died driving it:rolleyes:

what electrical reference plug are u referring to exactly on the alternator? and yes the icm ground wire is tightly bolted to teh chassis.

no im talking about the electrical harness on the ICM itself being bolted on tight...there is a plug on the bottom/side of the alt opposite side the serpentine belt.....

IT RUNS!!! drained the oil after letting it idel for a few minutes then added a new batch of oil. took it out for a drive and went part throttle to hit boost. it felt great but once i slowed down i heard a ticking sound. the ticking sounds seems to go with throttle. i do have the rear bolt where the egr would be not fully tightened. i hope the ticking i hear is from the exhaust elak and not another bottom end issue *crosses fingers as u read this*. im gonna drain and add new oil w/full syn. and try to tighten that one bolt and pray its that

i hohonestly dont even know/understand myself. i disconnected the neg terminal then disconnected the alternator connector and the 3 connectors off the post of the starter and gradually installed each one by one. each time i disconnected the battery and reconnected it with each connector and i had the door open on the drivers side to hear the door chime-had the key in the igntion. once the last connector was on the starter i was quite surprised myself.
