Hi my name is jack. I just bought a 2001 Grand Prix... It was having some anti theft problems so I looked here and found some very helpful info...

What kind of anti theft problems are you having?

The car will start and run for 3 seconds then die.. The security light is flashing too

Did you try the security relearn?

i had this problem too do the relarn like dan says, and in the mean time if you have to drive it, just fether the throttle when it starts, i could keep mine running this way, the end result i just had a tuner take the security system out of the tune, and its been fine since. I think he told me it was probably the bcm.

I tried the relearn process and still nothing. It's at the shop now they said it's the bcm...

It's not the bcm it's the theft deterrent module on the ignition switch... Gm only part so it's gonna be $330 just for the part

You can just turn the security stuff off with a tuner

Oh sorry... It was the anti theft ring around the ignition switch... $330 just for the part

you shoulda just bought one from the junk yard, hell you could have sent your pcm to someone and they would have tuned it for less than a hundred

Yeah but my girlfriend wanted it fixed now and didn't want to wait. She missed driving it
