GTP Vs Sting Ray

So I'm cruising down Old US27 in Lansing Mi headed Toward Dewitt, and I spot a white sting behind me in the left lane gaining on me pretty fast. I look down and notice I'm doing 55 (10 over) so this guy is trying to catch me. I figure another v8 picking on me b/c they see racing stripes.

We get caught by a light and he pulls up next to me looking straight forward ( Black dude about 55-60) with a stone facial expression and revs his engine just a little. I revved mine back and he nodded (still looking straight ahead). This Vette was beautiful. Mint condition, no tint, chrome 15's and big thick shiny goodyears with white writing.

Light turns green and we're off. He jumped out about a half length on me and I quickly gain and pass him. I had him by at least 2 cars by the top of first, but once I switched into second... it was all over.

The rpm's dropped back into my powerband and the cam and 2.8 pulley went to work! I shut down at the end of the speedo maybe 110 or so (At least a couple bus lenths on the vette). and we got caught by the next light.

He rolled down his window and says "I didn't know you had a supercharger brotha!"

ME: "You never asked" (with a big smile)

He chuckled and yelled "Thats a bad motherfkr right there"

ME: "Hey look at it like this...I'd trade it for that vette in a heartbeat"

he smiled and said " My man.. My man! right on"

Light turned green and he took off fast as hell, but I didn't chase as my turn was the next street.

If that vette was stock and 73 or later you shouldn't have had any problem beating him with even a stock gtp.

In a street race nobody thinks about if the other vehicle is stock. I personally think of all the things the car MAY have done to it before I go picking a race.

This guy obviously thought I was NA, yet alone cammed and intercooled. But that's just the way street racing works. I have no pitty for a stranger picking on a v6 because he just "knows" he can beat it. The guy had a beautiful car, but stock or not, he asked for it.

At the end of the day, he will respect Grand Prix's. Next time he decides to pick on one, he will pause and think that it might just be as fast as mine... or faster

that makes sense, i bet you're moving some air with that setup. seems pretty damn legit haha. i still miss the orange color though

If it was a 68 or later Vette, they're heavy. Even the 63-67 vettes weighed 3300 pounds. Everyone thinks that because they're glass-bodied cars they're light...not
