GTP 40th Transformation

OK all,
I have a 40th Anniversary Edition, absolutely beautiful car, but no one wants to pay crap for it. So I am considering a complete makeover as I am bored with the 3800 S/C. This would include a custom built chassis with maybe a Vette engine or LS. Anyone ever custom built a chassis for a W-Body and plop a V-8 in it? Maybe I have completely lost my FN mind on this one. But imagine the power in a 02 GP!

I look around at other rods at shows, but I know what I have. No rust, no damage, etc. I imagine selling this and buying something else but wonder if its worth it. Thoughts???

How deep are your pockets?? The custom work to make the 02 a rear wheel drive car would be very extensive. The LS motor debuted in '97 IIRC so there are plenty around in various forms.

The GXP has the 5.3L in it already but it's still front wheel drive.

While I would love to have a RWD GP in that body style it's just not feasible for the common person. If you want more power then I'd just go intercooled/turbo and call it a day. Even with a full blown build with the turbo it'd still be wayyy cheaper than doing what you are suggesting and you could get LS power out of the V6.

Problem with the SE cars (or most of the odd ones for that matter) is that most of the buying public will see it as just another GP no matter what even if it's clean. I'd sell it and use that money towards something you'll enjoy at this point if no more mods are going to happen. Just my .02

ive though an 08 G8 gxp driveline and suspension would be pretty wicked in a GP.
probably less expensive and less headaches to buy a G8 gxp.

You could always swap an LS4 from a GP GXP or 06+ Impala/Monte SS. The engines are relatively cheap, and you can get an entire donor car fairly cheap. If your going rwd there is no easy way other than buying a different car. Maybe weld an s10 chassis under there which I imagine may take quite a bit of fabricating, but at least with the s10 the 4.3 v6 is essentially a 350 missing two cylinders so it would be a fairly easy swap for the drivetrain.

With that said there were a couple LS-swapped GTP's out there back in the day. A red one & a blue one iirc. I believe both remained fwd. Idk whatever happened to them. There was also the Grand Prix G8 concept in 2000 or 2001 which had the LS1 mated to the versatrak awd system. The versatrak kept blowing up on it.
