Grinding Sound

Strype

New member
Hey guys new here :)

2 issues

I have 2002 GP SE with a 3.1 and 80k. I've had it a year and a half.

Minor:
For the past 2 months the brakes would sort of grab and let loose sometimes but only at really low speed, like backing out of the driveway and coming to a stop in a parking lot. Feels like the front. The pads seem to have plenty left. The rotors look rough.

Major:
Sunday I got new tires all the way around and an alignment. Now it seems that at low speeds there is a grinding sound in the back. I thought for 2 days that something was in my trunk making the noise. It happens when dropping my friend off at his house in an apartment complex with not so great concrete. Then I turned into a grocery store and it did it again slightly. However 99% of the time it doesn't do it. Only in certain spots.

Do I need to take this thing back to the tire place? I can't force it to make the sound. I don't know if it's under braking or not. Any clues? My first thought was bearings or brakes but it didn't start this until I got tires and an alignment WTF

Thanks,
Jon

IDK about your sound........I would take it back to them or call and just explain to them that you have a weird noise happening intermittently since you have had the work done and see what they say. Hopefully, they would atleast be willing to have you bring it in and try and diagnose it themselves since it is possible and maybe even likely that they changed something that is now causing this....On your first comment......if your rotors look rough, take them off and get them turned(refinished) if you can, or get new ones..

And I'm doing just that-

It got so bad on lunch that I crawled underneath and some kind of tie rod or something is WAY loose!

they were probably adjusting something for the alignment and didnt tighten it down. Take it in to them ASAP........make sure to call them first and let them know, that way if something happens to it on the way there it doesnt look like you are trying to make something up after the fact.(If the unit were to fail or something...)
