• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Grandpa's 2001 Silver Metalic GTP

Well, she's back in that garage. Getting:

Intake gaskets
Valve cover gaskets
S/C coupler
Throttle body & MAF clean
Trans fluid & filter
Fuel filter
Oil pressure sensor
Oil change
And probably some other things I'm missing...

Car's all back together. Rolled over a couple times then fired right up. Sounded like a sewing machine for a couple seconds. Eventually the lifter pumped up and quieted down. Big sigh of relief here.

Just drove from Tucson, AZ to Wyoming, MI. 1900 miles in 29 hours flat. Check engine light on the whole way, but not a lick of trouble. Still throwing a P0172 (system too rich) code. All the usual suspects (map, maf, O2) check good. While driving, I noticed the temp gauge wasn't coming up to where it probably should have. My new theory: Engine isn't getting up to "proper" temperature and the PCM is using a fuel table for a cold engine, which is way richer than it should be. O2 sensor is still pulling it back to shoich though.

We're going to throw a new t-stat and temp sensor in it and see if that changes anything. It's a cheap guess and either way, one of them is junk. Still got 26-1/2 mpg doing an average of 75 mph.

You DROVE all the way to ZZP's store. Damnn. They must have really REALLY pissed you off! haha

29hrs aint bad at all. That was definitely a non-stop drive then. I know from experience. In 2009 I drove from Vegas to Chicago straight, non-stop, and I was the only driver in a car with 2 other friends. One friend is a super-hippie and doesn't "need" and license and the other was seizure prone so I didn't feel safe with him behind the wheel. Anyway, took 25 hours. Running on Coca-Cola and Twix. Good Luck on the trip back home!

You drove right past Chicago mannn. Coulda dropped me off a transmission! LOL

And now I'm home...

Well... ZZP wasn't the reason for the trip, but I was literally like 3 miles away so I did stop in. Kinda dissapointed. Zero showroom space. Just three t-shirts hanging on the wall.

Thanks! Took a little longer to get home. Driving arrangements were different.

You fill up my PayPal account and I'd be happy to strap one to a crate for you. :th_winking: For what it's worth, that part of the drive (south of Chicago) was the worst of all 1900 miles.

That loop around the southern tip of the lake is brutal, every time. In the winter it's treacherous with all the snow and ice blowing in. I make regular trips out to Lawrence, MI so I've felt that pain.

Disappointing to hear about ZZP for sure. They must be focused on online sales.
