Because modifying the aftermarket 3.8 turbo stuff is cheaper and less time consuming than building all one off stuff.


From the way I read it, with the words "max build", money isn't going to be an issue. I recall Car Tuning makes turbo headers for 3800s, I think they're like $800, which really isn't expensive considering what good, stainless turbo headers cost for other platforms.
 
I talked with ZZP and they claim their Z7 kit wont fit on a RWD L36, they said it would be nearly impossible to make it fit. they also told me they did a turbo setup on a customers car and it was 10K in custom work, and that the power logs wont work either.

Cartuning still has their L36 Camaro turbo kit and it still requires an ac delete.
 
yeah it will all have to be custom the crossover and downpipe anyway. you could use the flipped mustang manifolds but if going all out i dont know why you would limit yourself that way. plenty of room in the engine bay for custom log manifolds or headers.
