Got this deal on a Trans Am

I saw this 2000 Trans AM today. It has a decent price on it, I wouldn't have to get rid of the GTP. I've been wanting to get an LS1 car for a while and this one looks like a nice option.

I took it for a ride, it's awfully slower than the GTP is right now, but it obviously has more potential than the GTP.

How much would it take to get the Trans AM running as strong as the GTP does now? I'm guessing that with headers, tune, gears and maybe a cam should do the trick.

I'm still thinking about it, but I will probably buy it in the next couple of days.

Oh, it's also running on 20"s which is kinda like suicide around here, I'll see if I can probably swap them fro 19s or 18s.

sweet ride! i like the 20's personally. maybe you can get a ws6 suspension package? heads and cam will net you quite alot. depends on what you want really.

Sadly, even if it's nice I just couldn't buy one unless it had a T56. If I'm getting a car for speed, it's getting a manual unless the option doesn't exist ala GP. I miss being able to go through the gears...

hahaha, you must have mistaken the accelerator pedal for the brake. That ls1 trans am should beat it as is, if not then theres something wrong.

headers
catback
tune

easy, easy, easy 12's with drag radials

edit- remove those stupid 20's

Clearly you need to ride in a stalled A4 car.

That t/a must have performance issues if it is "awfully slow" compared to your gtp that has a cam, exhaust, pulley and a tune. IMO, $6300 for a ~60,000 mile ls1 f body in great shape is a steal.

Yeah maybe it needs some work done to it, it didn't have any ses codes, maybe its the fact that its n/a and we are at 5000ft. But it didn't feel as fast as the gtp. I will find out later on. I agree I shouldn't have felt that much differenece between the both.

Well said. Autos rule with the right parts.

I know autos, when built right, are faster than any manual. But it's the whole feel of shifting gears. I miss it, and enjoy it more than just pushing the gas and brake.
