• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Gm, wtf.

I hated working on my wifes 92 areostar way more then my gtp it Just isnt that bad
Like others have said pull dogbones and rock engine forward

Ive said it a million times and ill say it again, working on GM FWD engines take the upper engine mounts off jack it up let it roll backwards while letting the jack down, set parking brake and you will have tons of room in the back to work with. Car rolls backwards, engine tilts forward, set parking brake. Piece of cake try doing that with a RWD camaro good luck with that #8 plug and hope you dont have headers:th_thumb-up: The bottom engine mounts and transmount arent solid take advantage of it.

Wish I would have read this years ago. My way of using a tie down to pull the engine forward is more of pain in the ass than this. I'll have to try it this way. Thanks

my friend popped the hood of his 09 civic and I LOL'd. i swear, the whole engine compartment is about the size of a Lambo's trunk

Sorry to have to tell you.. but anyone that complains about a 3800 is a *****.

I ***** a little about the W body versus H body stuff. But that's only because I could sit in an H body engine bay with the drivetrain.

I always remove and reinstall the backwards bolt by hand. Man up if you think it's bad.

Basically if it's tough then you need to step back and look at it from another angle.

I have to agree, A wbody is about the easiest car to work on by a large margin.

My advice... work on other cars and see how easy you really have it....

I might have to revisit the solid mounts that I was going to put in, if I lose the ability to rock the motor forward....

I also agree, the W body is pretty easy to work on, that is why I bought one because of the engine accessability. All cars have their hard spots to get your hands. Heck the plugs in my 86 Monte SS are harder to get to, mainly because it has headers. Plug number 8 is far harder than all plugs put together on the GTP. I did the intake gaskets on the GTP, was not hard, except leaning over an engine now hurts my entire body, (arthritis).

Thanks this should work for any FWD Id think but ive never tried it Ive owned 3 of these Gp's myself. Dont plan on getting rid or it anytime soon but the suspension will be getting full over haul by spring.

You guys and your fancy way to rock the engine. Grab the blower snout pull it forward. Plugs are way more of a ***** on our fords with the Triton v8 in them. Yeah mini vans are fun to.

Yup kinda sad I still knew what you where talking about. I got some nice 6" long spark plug sockets for them now. Still have not used them tho. Where in Iowa are ya?

Cedar Rapids and snap on makes extendable extensions for it. I once tried to do side work on those plugs for 45 bucks. I won't touch them now lol. Mac makes a darn rethread kit for it.

So does snapon. I have seen the extend able extensions never thought to buy one. I just pull the fuel rails tho. Oh and FYI you are sposed to pull the cab to pull the heads on a f-150 lol. It can be done with the cab on tho.

also for the intake on the new ones, you can pop the bolts and steering linkage and lift it like 6 inches and you can do everything you need to, so next time you complain about your 3800 think about having to take a cab off to do simple top end work...

and the 5.4's up to the new body style are cake once you got the fuel rails out and another person to give you a break halfway through lol

That does suck so much. That's also why I switched to a cell in my marao. You forget doing the center spark plug on an S10 with the 4.3

It took a special socket which ironically was a perfect fit around my super comp headers to put spark plugs in
