• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

glendayle's 99 Buick Regal GS

As far as the shifter, My mom said that if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. :)
That's quite a feat to put that shifter in there, but I'm not a fan of the look or the style. My wife has a similar shifter in her Mazda 6 and I don't like it. I just like the straight forward and back.

I think I've figured out the cable issue. 1st, I didn't have the end of the cable seated properly. Once I did that, the throttle cable was barely off.

Could only put 1 video in this post, so see next post for completion.

You can see it's still off just a little bit. So I loosened the bolts and then retightened them just to make sure the bracket was seated all the way back. Then I did the logical thing and just slightly bent the bracket back. Appears to be ok now.

Now it is about 1100 rpms at idle. Still seems a little high, but I think that can be adjusted. And if I remember correctly, it sort of idles high for about 60 seconds and then drops down to around 600-800rpms or something like that.

vids are good now. it seems tight still. mines stock of course, but there is a bit of slack, if you were to lift the cable where its bare.

have you taken the cable off all together and fired it up to see if the idle drops lower?

Yeah, i started it without the cable and it's the same. I'm comfortable with how it sits now.

Seem normal to me about the idle going down, as the ECT increase's the idle will go down, look at the table inside your tuning program and you'll see that to be true.

looks like I'm idling right where the computer is telling the car to.

Well, messed around putting the snout bracket on(noticed it sitting on the shelf and said to myself,"I think that is not supposed to be on the shelf right now)even though it's late. SO, basically read to go to the exhaust guy. At least from a mechanical sense. I think the only other thing I need to do is make and install my O2 sensor extension.

I put a lot of my interior and dash in yesterday. The stereo is all screwed up at the moment. So need to figure that out as well. I mean everything works, but the gains are way screwed up and stuff with the new amp and new 6x9s.

So it just looks like a standard trunk. But what it signifies is that my car is getting further put back together.

Also took a wire wheel to my exhaust tips. They are looking a little better, but I may copy that guy that plasti-dipped his tips.

I also have not looked at stereo decks for a long time. I can't believe how cheap you can get them nowadays. I'm not in the market for some crazy touchscreen expensive deck, but it's amazing what you can get for less than $200. My deck cost like $350 or $400 when I bought it(10 years ago), and you can now get a sweet deck at an entry level price. I will only buy Pioneer. Partially because I've never gone wrong with Pioneer, and also because I'm used to how they function and the remote buttons and stuff.
This is the deck I'm eyeing at the moment.

What's up with the boxes in the trunk? That's not quite "standard", you are a 98, right? Ever considered putting in the fold down seat?

Also like this deck because I like the CD slot behind the face. Especially because I rarely use CDs anymore. But not sure if I can pay $100 more for that feature.

Mine is a 99. Best year ever!!! Still had most stuff but before weight mods from the factory. :)
You mean this rear seat?!

I'm in the same boat. I have the double din for the dvd and backup camera, but the slow it unnecessary. think I've tossed 3-4 cd's in during the 3 years I've had it.

Yeah..that seat. Question is..why would you block that awesome feature?
Well, my boxes were built when I had the old style rear seat. I actually had them custom made so they wouldn't block the center pass-through piece. But, those boxes are not bolted down and super easy to remove. The few times I've needed to use it, I just pull the boxes out or move them to the side. I suppose someday when I have a bunch of extra time on my hands and a little bit of ambition I'll try to fiberglass some custom boxes that go behind the strut towers, but until then, this works well. Plus I can take them out easily when heading to the track or on a long road trip with 3-4 people and travel stuff. If I have people in the back seat, the bass is too heavy anyway.

OK, did a bunch of dinking around today.
Put in my exhaust cutout.

Took my car around the block. It's only staying in 1st gear. My fluid was low so I added a bunch of trans fluid. I have the proper amount of fluid now, but still in 1st only. Although I'm only getting up to like 15 or so MPH. I don't think my trans settings are such that I wouldn't be in 2nd or 3rd at a slow speed at 0% throttle. I think the problem is that my TPS reading is incorrect. Actually, now that I think about it, I'm sure that is the issue. I must have crossed up my wires when making my TPS wiring harness because my reading is ALWAYS 100% throttle position. I attached a quick scan. This is not driving, but just sitting there for a few minutes. I am getting one code for an O2 sensor which makes sense because my rear sensor is not there or plugged in at the moment.

I was trying to attach a scan file, but can't figure out how to do it here.

swapped up my wires. Throttle position is reading correctly. Went around the block. Everything seemed to shift fine. RPMs seem normalized now. Only issue is that I'm getting a P0122 code. Hope I didn't short out that wire swapping this stuff up.
