Glass Pack Size

Ok.. I need to replace my Res. But want to go glass pack before replacing my mufflers. All have taken a dump. What size glass pack to go? I have the original 2 1/4 inch pipe.

match it up to the same size you have now. usually the longer the better. im running a 32 inch glass pack. but thats what my regals res was, gp's seem to be a bit shorter.
 
I just put a 30 inch 2 1/4 inlet and outlet on my gtp.Welded it at home.I would have liked it an inch or two longer than it was.
 
i bought a flange from my local muffler shop, (10 bucks) then cut the inlet tube off and welded the flange to the glass pack. this way it bolts to the DP like it should. my stock res was 30 inches cutting off the tube and adding the flange made the 32 inch glass pack as close to the stock res size.

if you have after market pipes already you can clamp it in like i did or have the back 1/2 welded in. but at least you can drop the whole cat back still.

in that area. measure inlet to the end of the out let pipe of the stock res. find one thats fits yours numbers. and how you plan on installing it.

bad angle but you can see its about the same size. if your doing this at home its so much easier to just drop the whole cat back off.

I was thinking of replacing the pipes at the same time. Doing it in sections. Glass Pack, then the mufflers. Doing all the pipes in between. Got the dual setup.

oh, in that case search ebay, they sell full cat backs stock replacements for like 200 to 250 shipped, thats a new res, intermediate Y pipe and 2 new mufflers.


i did the piece by piece deal with mine, the muffler went first, then the res, then the pipe finally got so thin it was leaking all over, i had both hangers rewelded on and 2 hols filled. it was time.

if i had seen those ebay cat backs at the time i would have went that way. and got dual exhaust for my regal at the same time.

Does not ship to Canada. Main reason I didn't go that route. Plus, don't have that much free cash on hand.

our poor friends to the north, you got it bad up there. theres other selles i saw one for 217 and 40 shipped, but didn't check the country shipping.
 
I know. We always get the short end of the deal. No big deal, will just buy the individual parts.
