Gas Prices!!!

Just to let you know, we don't just get our oil from OPEC. Of the top 15 countries we important oil from, 7 were NOT OPEC members. #1 country USA imports from? Canada. #3? Mexico. Just saying it's not all OPEC...

Crude Oil and Total Petroleum Imports Top 15 Countries

I realize this, and the reason why I single out OPEC is because that's all you hear about in the news. How they blatantly try to drive the price of crude up, and it's not working. Blame the economy all they want, they're a victim of their own standards IMO. Speculators (supposedly) drove prices up to $147 a barrel on an economy that was already teetering, and pushed it over the edge. Now people are not buying the gas guzzling SUV's that Detroit has built their industry on for the last 20 years (also a victim of their own standards).

It's a shock wave going all across the globe, and it's not going to stop for another few months. By then, they'll attempt to cut production even more, making prices skyrocket when the global economy comes back around again.

Hence the reason I say this.....and the #1 reason why I'm STILL going to continue to carpool and hang onto my money whenever I can.

On the plus side, the money I could be putting back into the tank, can now entertain me on the weekends once again. :th_thumbsup-wink:

OH, believe me, I'm still keeping my driving in check. My Impala sits most of the time, I still keep the RPMs under 2500, and make sure that when I do go out, I get as many errands I can do in one trip. If ONLY gas prices had increased then decreased, and there was no credit crunch/bad economey/etc., folks would go back to buying SUVs again and would not keep the better driving habits in place. But if you don't have a job, it doesn't matter that gas is 25 cents a gallon - you still can't buy it. I think gas will get down under $2 a gallon nationally, and that's probably as low as it will get. $50/barrel will probably be the low end.

It's got to be hurting a lot of the folks in Alberta who were looking at the Oil Sands for recovery, but the cost there is only economical when the oil barrel price I think was around $100. If not $100, higher than what gas is at right now.

the downslide is even though ppl like deezul and reptile are keeping their miles low, you have alot of americans who will have this xtra money and be "immature" about prices and still keep the wheels rolling, maybe even harder. theses are the people who will make it spike. I personally keep my trips to a low standard but tonite i'm taking the GP to the 1/8th track tonite...yeh yeh its only a 1/8 but its a mile and half away. plus its test and tune nite!!!!

I imagine they might touch the upper $40's mark before the oil production cuts finally hit the market. The trading right now is for the December delivery, and after the first of the year we'll probably see the bottom of the market. This all pretty much hinges on how the economy is going to end up. 6% unemployment rate and climbing isn't good by any standards, and I think we have yet to see the bottom. We're probably still 5-6 months out from that standpoint.

If there aren't any jobs to put money in the pockets of the people, then there won't be any money to put the gas in their tanks.

Just take a look on the road, I bet I don't see even half of the trucks and suv's on the road around here like I used to. Many people even let their guzzlers go to the repo man because they couldn't afford to feed it. Bad times for sure.

China also buys a lot of oil and offer to pay more per barrel than the US which also forces us to pay more. China Knows what it's doing. They will end up the most powerful. They buy our debt, almost 1 billion dollars a day, and they buy as much oil as they can knowing it can hurt our economy as a whole. They are beating us at this game!
