Gas Prices!!!

I went to put gas in the GTP last weekend and the local BP in my town really stuck it to me. At the time, his regular was $1.69 a gallon (higher than most anyway) but when I went for the good stuff (92).... $2.59 a gallon! I mean really, 90 cents more? I put $20 in it and called it a day. No other alternatives where I live unless I drive into the city. There is one other BP in town, less than two blocks away from the other one, and they quit selling anything except 87 all together.

BTW... regular near where I work has been as low as $1.31 and was $1.36 today. Supposedly Independence, MO has some of the lowest gas prices in the nation right now. Good for me I guess. Of course, most people in Independence spend all their money on Meth, so they barely got money for gas. LOL! Good old Methdependence!

Of course I live 30 minutes from there and my little podunk town is always about 15-20 cents higher.
 


They'll probably do a steady decline for the next couple of weeks.......this last closing session was for December deliver oil, $54 a barrel. Even the refineries cut production, but if people can't afford to buy gasoline because they don't have jobs....the bottom might be close soon.

Save all the money you can....cheap gas won't last forever.

I dunno about that. You remember those pundits that were saying we would never see $2.00/gal gas again? Do I think it will stay this cheap? Nahh, it will probably end up rebounding a little as demand picks back up or if they slash production really sharply. I dont think, either, that it will go back to $4.00/gal anytime soon though, the economy just cant support that right now. Furthermore, the general public now has that burned in their conscience and the mindsets have changed. Additionally, the oil companies probably have realized that they are pricing themselves out of business because the higher fuel prices go, the more research and development and investment goes up in alternative energy sources.

They are putting up wind turbines out west of here like there is no tomorrow. The automakers have to meet new higher CAFE requirements and Im sure thats going to be a condition of any bail out they get, to meet that sooner. So even if it does go back up I dont think it would be all that long lived a spike as demand will fall back off as newer more efficient vehicles make it to market and to drivers.

And to take it even further, you dont think the oil companies are a little concerned with the President that is about to take office and his initiatives on alternative energy? There best bet is to do all they can and then some to keep prices down so as to take the attention and motivation away.

hmmm according to gasbuddy.com there is a Chevron right around the corner from me with Techron for 1.99 a gal. Does Chevron drench their gases in the Ethanol??? Or is it more of a gas station owners choice?

I've been using the Exxon right by my house because it seems like the gas is lasting way longer than with the Shell I was getting...

Nope, I was at home that weekend... I'm still bitter about a New Jersey Impala meet I drove up to, and one other person showed up. I've said I'd find some place to meet up in Northern Virginia, but I haven't yet. I've considered doing something at my house, too... would be nice to see a few 3800s all along the street.
 
about an hour and a half from me, not bad. Let me know if you ever are doing anything, or if you just wanna chill sometime and do some cruising
 


iv get hard lookin at the prices at gas stations now haha =] 15 bucks of permium is like mroe then 1/2 a tank woooooo haha =]
