Fuel siphoning fail

Is there some kind of shelf or obstruction from the from the filler neck to the tank? I tried for half an hour and couldn't get the hose to reach the fuel, when I'd try blowing I'd hear bubbles but the end of the hose wasn't wet. What gives? I tried at least 10 twisting/ pushing and pulling in various different ways.

I could really use the gas as there is a shortage after Sandy with ridiculous lines/ fighting over gas and I have at least 12 gallons in my dead GP.

Ok I did some more searching and found out about the access door, but that would mean I'd need to pump it out somehow.

How feasible is it to jack the rear end up/ disconnect the fuel lines and jump the FP to pump out the gas? (Or should most of it drain out by itself?). Could I just jump it with my old car battery? (Everything is disconnected, no PCM and whatnot).
 
Uh... you pump it out using a pump or sucking on the end of the hose. No need to get fancy. If a crackhead can do it, you can do it.

Or, find a ladle small enough to fir in the hole. There's more than one way to skin a grand prix.
 


my guess is you have no power or gas cans, need the gas to to power a generator.

if you pop the fuel pump , then take some plastic tubing, open the back seat and then drain it to the door, the bottom of the hose, needs to be lower then the tank to keep flowing.

or if you have a drill pump, and a garden hose. ( well 2 you need to female ends) it says its not for fuel, but will work for a while, gas will kill it after a week or so of use. i used one for diesel lasted a few weeks.
 
One other thing..if the battery has power, you can pull the center out of the schrader with an ordinary tire core remover and then just put a hose on the schrader into a can. Jump the high speed or fuel pump relay.

jack the car up, disconnect the fuel filter, put a bucket under the hose, turn on the key and let the pump do its job HAHA
 
Thank you to the gentlemen who offered useful advice. Luckily I've had power the entire time save for a few very short moments. The gas situation is crap here, lines are at least 2 hours long and I believe there is a limit to how much you can fill up. I just need to to get to school.

I haven't been able to touch the car cause we had a pretty nasty freak storm last night that just made everything worse. Hopefully the snow melts by saturday so I can drain the damn tank.
