fuel rails and Intercooler kits

I'm looking into doing a top swap, but I was wondering is there any way to use the factory L67 fuel rail after I put the ZZP stage 3 intercooler kit in, or do i just have to buy a new fuel rail

I'm interested FOSHO, let me know if he's got pics and what he's askin.

so then the stage 3 is a good intercooler kit, or I should go with stage 2?

the stage 3 wont do much more than a stage 2 will and it costs that much more for that bogus layer "to keep heat soak down". you cant run an EGR with it either or youll screw up the core. i would never get a stage 3 when a stage 2 is available.

so you guys really think that the heat soak isnt an issue and that the stage 3 is junk?

I dont really have a choice with the fuel rails, zzp has the cheapest ones, next to wbodystore

yes, heat soak is not an issue unless you like to do long WOT runs on the highway. even if you hot lap at the track its probably still going to work well enough. dont pay the extra money for the stage 3.

well that sort of is me, but I would still think no matter what that stage 3 would be better, I mean its the same principle as the throttle body spacer, it keeps the TB alot cooler.

what about getting the stage 2 kit and then the 1/4 supercharger spacer? the only thing I'm not sure about is the height, cause that would add 2.5 inches, and I dont know if that would stay under a stock hood.

Conduction isnt the only thing at work causing that core to heat soak. Convection is another issue, the surrounding engine temperature causes the aluminum to suck up all the heat around the core. Phenolic is an insulator and would help a ton.

I don't see the issue with phenolic. The alum. cores work well when the pump is running, but after you turn the car off, you will notice the supercharger soaks up the heat after it sits. So at the track you would want to keep it running in the pits. With the phenolic, this is not really an issue.

You would not want another spacer on top of a stg 2 core, too many potential leaks, custom s/c bolts would be needed, etc.

why not just run a bigger cam and NOT an intercooler? what is everyone's love for intercoolers? i get that its probably the most cost effective mod, but a cam setup by itself can usually run as fast as people want to go with the car. you can run 12s cam only.

Well how do you change the cam on these cars... :th_thumbsup-wink:
