Hey what up guys. New to the forums.
Have a question i have a 2002 grand prix 3.1l. And the problem im having is that when ever i start the car the fuel gauge reads full even tho it aint. And like 20 min later that its warmed up it goes all the way to the E even tho i know i do have fuel and goes back and forth within a 20 min time span. Any ideas what this could be and how to fix it? Any help i would appreciate thanks.

not really sure but my GTP's fuel gauge has never worked since i had it there i guess a common part to break in these cars

everyone of my friends that has a GP has had there fuel gauge go out because of the sending unit including mine

I also have a 2002 GP SE 3.1 that had the same problem. I don't really like to mess with trying to repair on my own. Before trying to replace the sending unit or having a shop replace the fuel pump for about $400 (they won't do the sending unit alone) I poured in a bottle of Prestone gas treatment when tank was an estimated half full, went to the gas station, filled with 88 octane (usually use 86) and added a bottle of fuel injector cleaner. Drove for the next few days until I had gone about 340 miles in city. Should be nearing empty but gauge was still above half. Added another bottle of gas treatment and then filled the tank. Over the next few days the gauge worked normally. Drove another 350 miles and gauge still accurate. Been working fine for the last 3 weeks. You might try this before doing replacement of sending unit.
