Fuel gauge always reads full

When i bought my 1997 gtp the fuel gauge read full or so i thought, till a week later it would not start. Cause there was no gas in tank but gauge still read full.
so i put a module in from my other gtp and the gauge reads the same.
what should i do next?

And to make things worse 97 is a unique year....where they changed the part number midway throught the year. 97 float sensor is different than 98-03.

No no, he doesn't have to replace the whole pump. Search for 1997 grand prix fuel sending unit on ebay, it's a $20 part, and you only need a piece off of it. Search on youtube for "bonnieville fuel sender replacement".

Just fixed mine today as a matter of fact, gauge is working great now.

If you hvent resolved this problem by now, check your wiring to the sending unit, you may have a bad connection, I'm thinking on the ground side (black wire) See my post re code throwing and someone else's called Wacky Gas Gauge here under general tech discussion. Things like bad wiring connections or broken wires are more likely than bad sensors in many cases.
