Finalized LIM gasket plans

Facepalm

It could be worse. I've yet to see if coolant ended up in the oil after driving it for a bit. I'm hoping to God there isn't it. There wasn't any when I ran it for 30 seconds the first couple times so I think I'm in the clear.

Oddly enough.. it's almost always faster to follow my advice blindly.

this one also works lol may need ot be part of bills siggy lol

Friend came and bled the cooling ststem with me. Car doesn't overheat and it runs perfectly. Idles normal and breaks good. Thanks for all the help guys!! I've still yet to buy the TB vacuum hose. I'll do that soon.

Well I just made a discovery of coolant under the car. I drove it for maybe 15 minutes and then came home. Just looked under the car and there was a stain of coolant under the passenger side. I looked around the coolant elbows, but didn't see anything. I'm hoping it's excess coolant dripping off, but that was on the drivers side. I didn't change the o-rings on the coolant elbows. They were still intact when I took them out. I'm praying to god it isn't them leaking. I will drive it around tomorrow and park it and see if it's dripping.

I have extra aluminum coolant elbows, but not anymore extra time. I hate doing coolant work, hate it, hate it. I've never gotten along with coolant so I'm just gonna drop it off at the local repair shop. I have everything they need to fix it so they only have to swap the elbows and bleed the car. I'm not risking anything more on this car, even if it's pulling the elbows. I end up staining the garage every time I work with coolant. Just best to leave it to someone who knows what they're doing.

coolant dont stain if you hose it down. trust me i know. lol been yelled at and it comes right off. im like see........ its not oil.

Again, I don't have all that much time to do this and I need done ASAP. It doesn't leak when the car has only been driven around for like 5 minutes (not at operating temperature), but when you drive it until it reaches temp, then it will start leaking. So when only the cooling system is pressurized, it will leak. And it drips onto the ground once about every 2 seconds, and then stop when the car's cold.

Park in the grass or in the road and do it. It takes a normal person a few minutes to swap elbows do.. Notice how I said a normal person for you.. Might take a week. Either way your going to end up paying what $50+ for a hour of work that's only gonna take the mechanic a few minutes to do. Yup makes perfect sense.

you are now afraid of coolant elbows? go ahead and sell it. buy your monthly bus fare ticket.

No, I just really hate coolant. If this was something that didn't have fluid coming out of it, I'd change it. Fluid just makes a huge mess, and all your tools get covered in it. The part I hated most about the LIM gasket change was pulling the UIM and tensioner assembly off because coolant then went everywhere. Cars would be so much easier to work on if fluid didn't exist lol.

coolant rinses off, oil and grease dont. so dont be a puss. its a 4 bolt job pretty much.

4 bolts!? 3 for the alternator, 2 for the alternator bracket, 3 for the tensioner assembly itself. There's 8 right there lol. I know what you mean though. And possibly 2 more for the recovery tank. That's 10 right there. Yeah I like to save as much money, but even after taking it to the mechanic, I'll still be saving like 5 times as much if I took the whole car to get a LIM gasket changed.
