no, IPC doesn't stand for "I pass college" in this example. i have a class called introduction to personal communication. final grades were posted today. i got 893 out of 1000. that mean i have an 89.3%. i was literally two points away from rounding up to an A.

Two. ****ing. Points.

In a class that was completely tought by a teacher's assistant with no teaching credentials whatsoever. The final exam was over material that we presented as a class for another grade. All of those presentation got like a 75%. And she never took the time to actually highlight some of the stuff that would be on the exam or tell us what the groups missed during thier persentations.

Welcome to most "Higher" education. But the fact you realized how inept the professor was is a good showing on your judgment and expectations. Congrats on the grade.

sucks, but i wouldnt be complaining. None of my college teachers round up. Its either u got it or you didnt.

i graduated college with an overall GPA of 2.4. im still making money and working in the industry that i went for. stop caring about grades.

my thought process: 4.0 students have no personality or life outside of school. employers notice this stuff too.

thanks fellas. the only real reason i keep grades in the back of my mind is that i have to have over a 3.0 each semester or i lose about 13k in scholarships every year. and if i lose that, it's pretty much move back home and transfer to a cheaper school. which i kinda want to do anyways but i'd be paying more than i am now. i know that grades aren't everything, and whatever happens happens IMO. but they mean the world to my parents. and i don't feel like getting chewed out all summer long because i "only" got a 3.0.

Do you know if your doctor, dentist, mechanic, pharmacist, financial analyst etc graduated with a 2.8 or a 4.0?

Didn't think so.

Maybe if the real professor taught the class your grade may have been lower? Not implying anything, it's just a possibility.

The point of my post: You got a damn good grade regarless of the criteria determining the final posting. Congrats. :th_thumbsup-wink:

Your grades may help you get your FIRST job but after that it doesn't matter unless you want to go further in your education.

I have a 4.0

Does anyone else find the title and body of the post ironic? With all the censoring and swearing... regarding introduction to personal communication... LOL
Nothing against you directly Poil336, I just thought it was very funny.

Cheers!

i had a 4.0 in high school too. i went to public school and did a lot of sleeping, drinking, and drugs (IN SCHOOL). college is VERY different. i had good grades my freshman year, but as complexity and workload rises don't be surprised that your grades drop off at a considerable rate.

hahaha i guess that is pretty funny. we all did our fair share of cursing in class, so i guess it works out. we put on our big boy pants in that class... kinda lol.

bio, i graduated high school with a 3.9, and i did a lot of sleeping. i fell asleep in every class over the course of senior year. i knew it shouldn't have been that high, but between that and really good standardized tests scores (a miraculous 36 on the reading part of the ACT, 32 overall), my parents really started to expect it. and they don't realize the difference in college work from high school work, so they still expect it. i know it shouldn't matter because they're putting no money into my education at all, but i still would like to make them happy...

interestingly enough, i sat down with the head professor today and he said he was going to round my grade up, so i'll have an A after all :) and i feel really good about the exam i took today. barring an epic sh!tting of the bed tomorrow, it's possible i'm on dean's list. and the best news is, a lot has to go wrong for me to lose my scholarships. so i'm in a pretty good mood right now
