exhaust questions? glass Packs?

I am very new to the world of exhaust systems. But i have a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP with the 5.3L V-8 LS4. I am wanting to swap the resonator out with cherry bomb glass packs. I have no idea what size to get how long it needs to be or anything. I have read several forums on here and GPONA.com but all of the posts on it are for the 3800 engine. I dont want to spend 600 bucks on magnaflow compete exhaust kit i just want to make it sound lounder and a little deeper. Any one with the V-8 engine or know anyone who has it and has done glass packs please give me your input.
 


I know I don't have a gxp but I put a 30" cherry bomb glass pack in place of the res and it's a ton better than no res that's for sure. My buddy has a monte ss without res and it sounds really cackly
 
yea ive noticed that about just removing res. i have no experience with exhaust but noticed theres different lengths like 22 inches and 26 inches and theres different pipe sizes. How do i know what type to get? I really just want it to sound a hell of a lot better
 
You'll want to change out the mufflers probably then. I really don't have much experience at all with the gxp though sorry. Just chop it all off and it'll sounds tits lol
 
o yea that definately sounds like a plan. i will eventually do mufflers as well...but like i said i have no exhaust experience at all. I'm gonna get the parts and i got a buddy that is gonna put em on for me but dont am researching what to get.
 


Listen to some exhaust clips online from the GXP w/ Flowmasters, Magnaflow, Borla etc... and choose which one you like best for mufflers.

As for glass packs also, the longer the glass pack the less rasp but quiter, short glass pack more rasp but louder. find a happy medium.

But since your running the LS4 rasp might not be a problem since v8's exhaust are way better than the 3800s. Go with a shorter glass pack, if you dont like it, replace it with a longer one, they are cheap anyways.
 
i was thinking that i would go with cherry bomb glass pack and magnaflow muffler...i think i can figure the glass pack out pretty easily after all the research but on mufflers theres so many styles and types, what type should i get and how do i know if they will mount under my car?

The ls4 still sounds raspy without a res.
 
thanks for the input...on most of the videos i can find they dont say exactly what they have for exhaust brand name...so i guess ill just have to play around with it
