Engine Swap Question

I have a 2007 grand prix with a N/A 3800 with a few mods. its quick but i found a guy on craigslist selling his totaled GXP and the engine and trans are not touched at all. (Pics show) he says it still starts up instantly and everything. How hard would it be to swap my 3800 out and throw in the 5.3L V8 and is it worth the time/effort. he only wants $1800 for the whole car and i can part out the interior and sell it easily.

I don't know much on that type of swap. If you do buy it and wheels are in good shape, I would be interested in making a deal on the wheels if you were selling them.

I would imagine you would want to swap suspension and everything. I would think it can be done and if you have the complete car, it shouldn't be too big of a deal. It just takes some time to do it.

A swap is very do-able if you have the entire car.

You'll want to plan on swapping the entire wiring harness, ABS Pump / electronics, and the steering column.

the whole front passenger side is trashed. hit a pole and totaled that. only has 3 rims idk what he did with the 1 that got destroyed. i called and left a message, no response yet.

I think the GXP has a different engine crade and if that's the case, where the impact was might have bent the crade.

I personally wouldn't take on the swap, and I'm a pretty big fan of wrenching. You can find a good condition GXP for little more than you could get selling your 07. That being said, if you want to keep modding, stick with the 3800. There aren't many go fast parts available for the LS4.
