engine light on when floored

Yesterday I was on the highway and some kid in a sebring tries to race anyways when I floored it the engine light came on then went off once I got back down to 35 mph

Was it flashing or just on?

It was flashing but it never came back on it started after i punched it and then when i in the city it stopped

Flashing ses light would be a missfire

flashing is bad, that is your car telling you to stop doing what you are doing. pull your plugs and check them out, replace if needed, some how im sure you need new plugs and wires.

when was your last tune up?

change the fuel filter while your at it and run some seafoam through it.
