Engine Cover

You guys kill me. Gotcha thinkin' though.

I'm going to start a thread about aerodynamics under the hood.

Added weight? When it comes to 3300+ lbs on a car can u really count something that weighs 1lb? Lol if that. Sure get rid for weigh reduction to give u ur .001 faster 1/4 mile time :)

every little bit counts when it's useless weight anyway.

One reason to remove it is if it gets build up of oil and junk it will turn into a fire hazard. i for one would rather company's spend the time designing and manufacturing engine covers and spend it making the engine bay look nicer without it.

if you pull the cover then you dont need the rear lift bracket and that can go, then the front lift bracket can go, keep pulling odds and ends and it does add up. wont break records at the track or save you $100's on your gas but why carry it if its not needed.

i see ur point. but there really shouldnt be an oppurtunity for oil to build up under there without one noticing it else where. cuz that would have to be a pretty bad leak for it to build up there.

Crud and junk build up under the hood all the time. You just need a faulty fuel connector and a bump in the road to saturate the foam under the cover in gas. Do that a few times and it's a pretty good fire starter. I think the kind of person who will be watchful enough to notice a small oil or fuel leak would rather the cove be off so they car inspect everything. Hiding stuff under a cover to me is the old out of sight out of mind mentality. Now I know there will be some who are exceptions to this.

Lots of the new engines have so much plastic in the engine bay that you can't see any mechanical parts. WTF?

It doesn't just have to build up. You have an o-ring suddenly crack in your fuel quick connect, and you will have a sudden fuel leak.

Ask me how I know.
