Engine conversion kit

Bill, there is some wire splicing right in front of the engine compartment thats questionable. It looks like it was half a$$ and sloppy. Not horrible but definitely not professional. I'm not sure why. A couple times a "reduced power" message came up on the dash display and it wouldn't get out of its own way. I shut down the car, restarted it and it ran fine. I'm getting out at noon today. I should be able to get some pics this afternoon so you guys can get a visual. My concern is that the wiring problem could be a costly fix.

I've been trying to post my pics for bout 3 and a half hours and i can't seem to get them up and on here. very fustrating

Find out what pin #'s they go to. Im sure theres a PCM pinout around here somewhere. Or Bill will know it by heart.

Its almost like the PCM is wrong for the motor.....but this goes beyond my knowledge. Im sure when Bill sees this, he'll point you in the right direction.

I wonder if it is the original unit that came with the car. I hope bill can help me out. He is my only hope at this point. I know and understand basic mechanics and how things work but I am electronic ignorant.

The weird thing is, is that you said the car is running fine. If it werent the corrcect PCM that wouldnt be the case. He'll prolly wanna know what pins on the PCM those wires are running to.

It does run and drive fine. There is a sensor plug in the front that isnt connected that i plugged in and it seemed to make the engine skip and hesitate a bit. The digital display inside read "reduced power" and it wouldn't get out of its own way. Shut it down and unplugged it. Back to normal. The "reduced power" came up twice b4. 1st time really spooked me but I shut it down and restarted it and it went away. Weird huh?

Looks the prev owner left the manifolds, not a good thing for your situation. Don't drive the car in such a fashion as to invoke "reduced power" until things are sorted out.

I have been driving it very easy on purpose. I haven't punched it or anything. "reduced power" came up unprovoked, lol. It's been parked pretty much since I bought it. Until it passes NH Insp. I'm not gonna drive it.

all of those butt splice connectors need to be removed, and then soldered, and shrink wrapped to even come close to working properly. you have a bit of a mess there.

are the wires to the maf twist tied? with nothing at all on them? hard to tell from the pic.

i bet it runs real bad when its raining out.

Sorry man, I'm not sure what you're lookin at. It is a bit of a mess. I'm curious what who ever did the work was thinkin. Why the splicing and what was he tryin to accomplish. Seems sloppy and careless. Why spend all the money and time going that far into a modification and then mincemeat the electrical. Don't get it
