Engine blown?

4 days ago, i was having problems with the MAF sensor, lean condition, low imput.... p0102... blah blah. So i cleaned it(Sensor) numerouse time cleaned throttle body, etc... the lean condition became worse, somehow. So.... i bought a 5.1qt bottle of Synthetic, 2 bottle of trans fluid, Iridium plugs, and a fram oil filiter + 1 bottle of SEAFOAM <_<. i didnt change anything, but i put the entire bottle of seafoam into the fuel tank, i had a quarter tank of fuel (probaly shoudnt have done this) btw 97 GrandPrix gtp, Ram intake. i had to leave for work soon so i let my car idle while i was getting ready, got in the car drove off, hit the freeway... a guy was flying down the freeway so i had to damn near floor it to not be Fisted by his truck, looked at my gauges, i was at 5k+ rpms with the boost bar 3/4 full, I was HAPPY AS **** becuase my car never peformed that well, or so i thought till i got off the freeway and heard one of the loudest clanking noise ive ever heard. My heart sunk... i thought i through a rod or something, probaly stuck lifiter, or floating valves... needless to say i died a little inside, its been like tht for 2 days, until yesterday i was on the freeway the clanking was "sporatic" so my mind automaticly went to "its probably carbon bouncing on a piston" ME: (/o.o)/ WOO! until i heard on last clank and BOOM! oil light cuts on, gray smoke out the engine bay, and into the cabin -_- , i stopped looked under the car, OIL + Antifreeze everywhere. when i got it home, my dad discovered tht the oil dipstic was bent to all hell and was actually "protruding" through the oil pan (o.o). what could have the force to do this? I thought to myself... (T_T) Blown gasket? Rods? Crank bent? Radiator gone? Life ending? God... kill me now. plz? anyone know anything or can help? We're looking into just getting another engine. T_T

Get a video of it.

Good thing bottom ends are cheap and a dime a dozen.

Sounds like you chucked a piston, or a rod bearing for that matter.

You had a catastrophic failure of the engine. Time for a new one.

Sent using my bionic thumbs from my sweet DROID Razr Maxx

Agreed. Not sure how the oil dipstick can be pulled down into teh pan. It goes into a hole in the block. unless something failed bad enough to take that chunk of the block off.

Catastrophic is correct, turns out and entire piston is in my oil pan, and both head gaskets are gone. Now what I need to know is if an 05 GTP motor will fit securely and CORRECTLY into my 97 GTP? Will the mounts AND the trans line up? Will the harness be compatible? Will coolant hoses be an issue? Will whatever higher power stop fisting me with both arms?

Answer= yes.

But Somethings you want to know. the 05 GTP motor has a better blower and different LIM, thats if its a complete motor.

Also if you used it you will need to buy extra parts and adapters in order to run it. 04+ cars are DBW and 97-03 are throttle cabled, so the TB would need to be swapped to run the cables. Vacuum lines will be 100% different aswell.

Personally, I would take the blower and LIM off and swap your LIM to the short block along with your gen 3 supercharger and call it a day.

Then sell the GEN 5 for like 300 bucks and the LIM too to get your money back.

If you end up with a GEN5 that needs a good home let me know. I'll give you more than $300 for it.

To make the motor work in your 97.

You can use the 05 evap
You can get a TB adapter for ~$80-100
You can swap on any other parts you have.
Vacuum is not very different. Instead of having the vacuum tree by the TB supply vac to the boost control soleniod and fuel pressure regulator, it comes from a T at the lim. It's all vacuum and very easy to work with.
Swap your 97 injectors and fuel rail on to the 05
Swap on a 99-03 alternator and it's bracket.
If the motor has the motor mount/bracket on the oil pan, cut the extra lip off your subframe at the bucket that holds the mount, or swap your pan onto the new motor. Personally..I'd cut. It's easy (I have pics).

It lines up perfect to the transmission. The flexplate is typically dual drilled in that year and would bolt right up. You may have to change your rear eshaust manifold to the one from your 97, if you still are running a stock manifold.

That's it in a nutshell. This is a lot less than you sometimes have to swap on direct fit year motors in other cars.
