Not tryna start a rant nor issue but give me you guys take or either or if any you guys had E85 stations for your choosing would you go E85 to kill knock or run a intercooled setup? I just wanna see peoples views about it as im goin E85 very soon and some people tell me why go E85 .. thanks!

E85, despite being intercooled or not, is a superior fuel to gasoline when it comes to making power. end of story.

E85 = poor mans IC

Meaning converting it to E85 is a lot cheap then majority of our IC set up unless of course you find some good deals etc.

It's a no brainer if it's available easily within your area.. Now one of the major cons is there's limited stations that carry it and say if you decide to go on a road trip you gotta plan your route more carefully.

How much is E85 compared to 93 in your area? The places I've seen that carry it when I'm out of town it's usually quite a bit cheaper so that can offset the MPG.

Have any of you guys ever switched to different setups like ran Intercooled then switched to E85? What were the differences pros cons?

Edit
Redcompg i thought Meth was poor mans intercooler..

They can be compared by how much more power you're able to make and how repeatable those gains are.
Very simple to compare the two actually.

nevermind. i'll keep my intelligent thoughts out of this thread that is comparing two completely different things. carry on.

it comes down to this: how much money do you have? do you want to intercool your car or run an alternative fuel? do you have experience with either?

take note that running e85 is cheaper and probably more beneficial, but it IS NOT an intercooler.

Cmon jay youve rode in my car why is this even a qestion?

you know just as well as everyone else an ic on these cars isnt even close to a simple e85 setup.

ic isnt worth the money unless its for a turbo setup.........

Agree but injectors and fuel pump cost what half as much as an intercooler?

The real question is who can tune for e85.........

DarkHorizon has successfully ran E85 with just injector swaps (~30% larger injectors than what the current tune is calling for).

I have been playing with my E85 setup for several weeks now and have run many-a-tune on it and think I have it pretty well dialed in. This question seems to keep coming up so I may put a full post together soon about the different things to consider when tuning for it. It really isn't too hard to switch over from my experience thus far!

Also, FWIW, I dropped 9 degrees of KR and then dropped from a 3.5" pulley down to a 3.3" pulley and am still seeing roughly 0* KR... Have not had an IC setup on mine personally, but I can say that E85 is awesome. I can see it as being one of the best mods for these GTPs if you are on a budget. You could easily take a stock one or one with simple/minor mods (like mine) and run E85 and drop several pulley sizes I believe.

o not run E85 without tuning... Just cause it starts and drives doesn't mean itsnt in the verge of failure.

E85 can be done Easily and safely but do so with tuning. All you need to get going is injectors and a new fuel filter filter where applicable

I have tuned hundreds of GP's but its completely not worth my time to even flash something different onto my 97GTP that I race in rallyx. It runs e85 42s and a stock 97 PCM.

I am actually doing both e85 and zzp full Stack phenolic intercooler. Finishing up some touches but can't wait to see how much timing I can add a long with pulley size gotta find the sweet spot.
