e85 mixing no mods

Iv read a lot about this. From people who work on cars and know about them says its NP, people who are just guessing and have no idea what there talking about day it will eat my fuel lines and ****.

Well iv been doing a 50/50 mix or e85 and 93 for about 5 months now and love the results. My car idles around 500rpms now vs 800 when running 93. The engine runs sooo smooth you wouldn't even be able to tell its running half the time. Improved acceleration, a lil worse gas mileage but that's fine sense I'm supporting us farmers and not 3rd world oil company's.

Anyone else do this with the grandprix? I want to hear real world experience not guesses.

Also most gas you buy in the u.s. has 8%-12% ethinal in it anyways. Theres no real way to make something 10% proof, it can ether withstand the ethinal or can't.
 


No issues with ethanol. Some of the older cars in the 80's had problems with rubber, etc. And that's where it got a somewhat bad reputation, but modern cars are fine. Anyone that tells you different, well, just don't listen to them.

no problem :) try to support u.s. citizens as much as possible. and now a days its not very easy sense 90% of store bought items are made in china.
 
e85 is 105 octane? mix it 50/50 with 93 and u get 99 octane. ask anyone who races there cars about running e85 and they will tell u they get about 5 mph in a 1/4 mile faster by running e85
 


true if you get the car tuned for e85 then u get the few mph faster in the 1/4 mile. but overall it is a stronger fuel for racing.

Its not always just that simple as dumping 5 gallons of E85 in with 5 gallons of 91-93 octane gas. Alot of little things should be done to get the max energy out of that fuel. Our cars seem to be too stupid to care most of the time, but try it on some gen 3 or gen 4 V8 cars with far better technology and you will likely see an issue running it without changing some numbers inside the computer.
 
well to get true 50/50 u have to take in account that pump gas has 8%-12% ethanol in it already and e85 is 85% ethanol and 15% 83 octane gas. so there's some math work to really get 50/50. next is i was looking for other people who have done this and what there experiences was. i read alot about other cars doing a 50/50 blend but was more interested in hearing about the 3800. if you want some data to back up what im doing heres a video to check out.

The question remains what have you done about the fact that ethanol runs ~30% leaner than gasoline? You are playing a guessing game of how much ethanol/gasoline is in the tank at any given time by mixing and matching and on top of that it sounds like you dont have a tune to properly adjust your air fuel ratio to compensate. So far youve been lucky that your fuel trims went far enough quick enough to make it not lean out and melt a piston. Also your stock narrowband oxygen sensor can only accurately measure stoich NOT air/fuel ratio so when your on the throttle hard and it needs to be richer than stoich the fuel trims are just locking in at who knows whatever random number they come up with at that time. Good luck....

Trims don't lock on at a random number. They lock on at the last value it was using before it goes into pe. Hence why this is fine....not optimal, but ok for a bolt on car.

ahhhahahahhhhaaaa thats funny. If that worked correctly and it were only that simple, tuning would be so much easier.

Here you can buy premium gas without ethanol in it. If we had more than 2 gas stations that sold e85 I would probably switch to e85.

I understand how their "supposed" to work. **** doesnt always work how it is supposed to. And if your the master tuning genius why the **** are you condoning mixing E85 un-tuned... you must know how completely ****ed the long term trim programming is on our cars.

Oh my. Haha. So, do you understand where the trims get their calculations from? And, do you know what the trims actually do?
