Dyno Tune at 230 tom..any guesses?

perhaps yall can HELP and not bash.

copied/pasted from my local GTP forum

ok so the dyno tune went well..kinda. im gonna try to sum it up so im not writing a story, but theres alot to say.

the tuner HATED Will from overkills tune, said the timing was wayyy to high and dumping way too much fuel, said i wouldl have popped a piston soon due to having 4-6* of KR on the 3.4
i have a boost issue, boost was 6 psi one run, 11.5 the next then 5 the next. belt slip? prob not. tensioner? perhaps? bbv? they think it is.
Its NEW from Eaton though? the linkage or w/e you call it wasnt depressing all the way down they said, so we held it down for a couple runs with a scerwdriver and sure enough, 11.5psi peak, 9 psi throughout. he got rid of all the knock and set the A/F in the high 11's. the car only put down 214 hp/229 ft lbs on the mustang dyno.

was also told my K&N intake is sucking hot air in and they recomended Thrashers "cold" air intake or similiar and he said he had a open cone on his GTP and dropped IAT temps alot by switching to Thrashers..idk. this guy seemed to tell me opposite of what everyone on here teaches. he also said 12* of timing at WOT is what these cars want, not 19* which is where it was. idk really what to think, im unsure if i came out on top or not? def gotta fix the boost issue, i got a spare bbv kicking around i gotta troubleshoot.

ported blower was not installed at this time

car ran a 13.5 @100.88 in the 1/4 as well

12* of timing is not what your car wants it's way to low. It should be at least 16*. Take it to a good tuner.

i think to say 12* of timing is what these cars what is a big generalization. i mean granted i know next to nothing about tuning BUT 19* might work well for most cars, but 12* might be better for your car. Someone tell me if i'm wrong lol

edit: although on most peoples setups i see around here nobody is running that low of timing.

Wow... I don't think their new tune is doing you any justice. Did u happen to make a pass on Wills tune BEFORE they messed with it?

Okay.. serious post time.
EPS has a Mustang dyno and you're paying them for tuning services... What is most likely going to happen is they will bring you in and baseline the car. The baseline numbers are going to be on average, lower than you expect.

Then they're going to "tune" your car. The subsequent results from tuning will be AMAZING. You will pick up an easy 30whp with their "tune".

What REALLY happened was they tuned their dyno to read a higher number, and your car isn't going to be much, if any faster.
Good luck!

Real power on a properly calibrated Mustang dyno: 217 SAE or 224 Std.
What he'll probably make: 245whp SAE or 253 STD.

only because Bill and Blue are giving me the respect of a simple, decent thread, here are the results..not too pumped about it, but perhaps yall can HELP and not bash.

also said Andrew Fourniers and Justin Dalios dyno runs from 6 yrs ago and no.'s were just like mine so i guess dynojets read ALOT higher eh?

Anybody else see the similarly with these post,
seems like the ppl at this place dont know what there talking about and should never tune cars

These type of HP guessing game threads are always a great reminder of how skewed everyones views of reality are.
With the exception of Nixon @ 16whp off... The next closest guess was 30whp off, lol

I agree those people don't know what they are doing but to say every Mustang dyno is included in your conspiracy theory is just plain bull**** and you know it.

According to you, the only dynos that read correctly are Dynojets and even then the only Dynojets that read correctly are the ones that are in the state you live in. lol

Broken record.

Broken tune.

all of that nets more than ~22 WHP.

Did they give you a print out?

Also I'd avoid WOT till you get some timing back.

With no timing your EGT's will rise, and running lean will do the same thing.

12* huh.

12* is bad.

I'd say you're golden if you can run at least 14* WOT (more is even better) with a AFR of about 11.0-11.3 (Non intercooled/non cammed)

You were running 13-15* @ WOT with Overkill's tune that your tuner disliked (it does run rich, too rich for the poor timing exhibited.)

hahaha holy egt temps, valves will look like playdoh, these cars need at least 15-16* wot. I hope you didn't pay this guy.

This is not most likely what is going to happen...You have no idea what you are talking about.
