• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Driving issues

I looked the numbers up on cardone and even called/emailed them to make sure. The 1255 and 1256 are what I'm buying.

Which is how I did it as well, but I was under the impression that I was looking for supercharger specific cv joints, I still don't have any solid proof that the left side isn't supercharger specific, however on cardone's website they do say the left is compatible with the n/a and supercharged versions I believe

The left side as previously stated is the same on every 2nd gen wbody.

4T65-E[edit]

The 4T65-E was introduced to replace the 4T60-E in 1997. The 4T65-E included a larger 258 mm torque converter for some models and many other changes to improve reliability. It is able to handle vehicles up to 6500 lb (2948 kg) GVWR with up to 280 ft·lbf (380 N·m) of torque. A number of final drive ratios are available, with many distinct models. Starting in mid year 2000 models, all 4T65-E models received an upgraded valve body. Starting in 2003 the internal electronics were changed, hardened 4th gear shaft, ratcheting sprags for input and third gear were added. The last application was the 2011 Chevrolet Impala as GM has transitioned to the 6T70 family transmissions for 2012.[SUP][1][/SUP]
Models:

  • M15 — 245 mm (9.6 in) torque converter
  • MN3 — 258 mm (10.2 in) torque converter
  • MN7 — 258 mm (10.2 in) torque converter and heavy-duty gearbox (see 4T65E-HD)
  • MD7 — 245 mm (9.6 in) torque converter (Chinese version)
  • M76 — 245 mm (9.6 in) torque converter (with all-wheel drive capability)

4T65E-HD[edit]

The 4T65E-HD (code MN7) is a heavy duty version of the 4T65-E used with more powerful engines such as the LS4 V8 and L67/L32 supercharged V6.
Applications:

Shouldn't have to elaborate due to the fact that the info is stated next to the part number on rock auto. A supercharged left side axle for a 97 will not fit an 97 NA GP so when you say all 2nd gen will fit is inaccurate. I had a 97 NA and received a CV that was boxed wrong and meant for a S/C.

I didn't see anything on rock that supported info on the left side being supercharger specific or not, hence why I spent time contacting cardone to make sure their description was correct on their website. Again, I'm not going to just randomly buy an axle and hope that it works. I'm going to do it right the first time and not worry about it, a lot of guys have been helpful on this site which is why I ask for help, Scotty has given me a great number of tips on my car, I hope to hear from him again when I rip my control arms out. That should be soon I think...

Also, I'm no mechanic, so any help is great, as I need a lot of it.

your fing blind or dont know how to search your parts.

No, I'm cautious. After buying multiple parts for a gt vibe and bring told by multiple places that the parts were correct, I took the engine apart and none of the parts were compatible due to the gt version being different than the regular vibe. I tried taking those parts back to said stores and all of them refused to take them back because I had opened the packaging. So I was stuck with $600 worth of useless parts that I couldn't get refunded or swapped for the correct parts. Now I completely ignore descriptions and just ask people that have done the job already or know compatible parts from experience. It may make me look like an idiot but at least I'm not an idiot holding $600 worth of useless parts anymore. So please, if you want to help, great, I know very little about cars and want to learn, I don't want to have to defend myself for asking a cautionary question.

Well duh a 97 NA axle isnt going to work in a 97 gtp. Its a different trans you tard. And I never said all.

Drivers side(left) is the same on pretty much every single 2nd gen w-body car. The passenger side(right) is different on the supercharged cars. CARDONE SELECT 661256

NO **** it's a different trans nig. Saying "pretty much every single 2nd gen w-body car" is seriously vague. You're implying the majority is the same when it ****ing isn't. Christ man.

Here's the thing, Scotty is right about you being blind because when you use AAP, RockAuto, NAPA, etc. It asks you what trim you have and supplies you the correct info unless you have a Ferd.

I'm sorry that me asking questions for clarification offends you, I'll remember to put your needs first when I give a **** what you think of me. Until then, you can sit back seat and shut the **** up.
