drive Shaft Question

Hello,


I'm about to replace the drive shafts and wheel bearings on my 2002 Gtp.

What is the size of the nut on the outside by the wheel bearing? Also what is the torque spec?

I know I don't have anything big enough to fit that.

either 34 or 36 mm depending on if it's stock or aftermarket. Torque spec is really f-in tight lol

It is stock so would that be the 36mm?

I've seen 105 - 158 for torque.

the new axle will be the different size bolt, bring your socket for the stock one and see if it fits before you leave the store, so you can buy the right size while you are still there.

It should be a 35mm for the axles nut, a 36 will work.

Torque spec is 118 ft lbs.

But the REAL torque spec per GM is 118 ft lbs.

An FYI, the year 2001 is the only year that is 159 ft lbs.

Why? Because GM is stupid.

Then in 2002 boom, its back to 118.

Hell even a 2009 Chevy Impala with a 3.9 v6, with the same control arms and trans and wb's and axles its 118 ft lbs.

A 2000 GTP is the same as a 2001 GTP so the Torque spec of 118 is still going to be what it is.
