drive Shaft Question

Hello,

I'm about to replace the drive shafts and wheel bearings on my 2002 Gtp.

What is the size of the nut on the outside by the wheel bearing? Also what is the torque spec?

I know I don't have anything big enough to fit that.

either 34 or 36 mm depending on if it's stock or aftermarket. Torque spec is really f-in tight lol

the new axle will be the different size bolt, bring your socket for the stock one and see if it fits before you leave the store, so you can buy the right size while you are still there.

159 ftmfw! I need more indepth, why does four say this and alot of others say that. It CANT be for just ONE year

Nope, look again.
Ok.

Search "axle nut" on alldata.

Maybe in your head it is.

But the REAL torque spec per GM is 118 ft lbs.

Any other number than 118 is wrong.
Do as you wish, but 118 ft lbs is not enough for that nut.

An FYI, the year 2001 is the only year that is 159 ft lbs.

Why? Because GM is stupid.

Then in 2002 boom, its back to 118.

Hell even a 2009 Chevy Impala with a 3.9 v6, with the same control arms and trans and wb's and axles its 118 ft lbs.

A 2000 GTP is the same as a 2001 GTP so the Torque spec of 118 is still going to be what it is.

I like how bronco boy is using an outdated PROGRAM, other than a REAL time fully updated Alldatapro program via the Internet like me.

Let me get a screen shot of what I am using.
