double piston rear passenger brake caliper?

Hello I have a 2005 grand prix and went to buy a new caliper for the passenger rear brake, problem is in the system the only calipers for my make n model are single piston, but my car has a 2 piston caliper. I'm trying to figure out what make n model they might be from so I can buy a new one.. please any help would be appreciated.. thank you
 


yes I'm sure, I know it seems doubtful. but that's what I have its double pistons both sides, ive done my back brakes a cpl times now, both sides, that's how I realized I needed to replace the caliper because only one side of the brake pads is wearing down, I also need to replace the bracket because the sleeve doesn't budge at all
 
I don't have it taken apart right now, so I don't have a pic, but I just saw in the forum about a f body mod caliper, I'm pretty sure that's it when I saw the pic

If you've done the rear brakes a couple times already how do you not know what caliper you're running? If you've replaced pads already you previously needed to order pads for that caliper?
 
that's the thing, I never realized they were different than the normal ones on the grand prix, when I bought them I got the normal pads and they've always fit, there was nothing to suggest they didn't go to the caliper.. but I believe I found out what calipers they are, thanks to moddman... I believe they're the f-body mod calipers
 
f body's typically refer to the front brakes. not the back. not that it cant happen, but everyone who has done a big brake back side up grade needed to get larger wheels to clear them.

But f body calipers do fit under most 16" wheels...f body cars came stock with 16" wheels.
 


any idea where to get these calipers? or would it be cheaper to replace them with the original grand prix calipers? would I have to change both out? or could I do one at a time at different times? because I know the original calipers are close to $90 a piece
 
not knowing what you have looks like, its all guesses. you need to take a rotor off and measure it too. that can help narrow it down.

junk yard sells parts cheap, or buy whats called a loaded caliper. its got everything you need, bracket bolts caliper and pad hardware. and you need new stock rotors.

I believe so also.

Fbody or Impala dual piston upgrade is don't up front since that's where's most of your stopping power is needed...

Never seen or heard of someone putting those in the rear since well you have a parking brake back there. Without pictures i find this hard to believe

Probably just a misunderstanding. Having poked around several junkyards quite a bit, there is no factory rear dual-piston brakes that I have ever seen on high-production cars of yesteryear. I have, however, seen rear brakes that appear to be dual piston because of the caliper shape and the relative sizes of the cooling fins (seem to neck down in the middle of the caliper).

I suppose there are probably quite an array of aftermarket brakes if you have the coin.

If your ebrake works then I highly doubt your rear brakes are not factory since the ebrake is part of the caliper on 04+.

Also the fact you've done rear pads a few times and got the right pads means you have factory calipers.
