Dog bone flip?

I have a SE, I kind of fell into the car not know much about it, now I am slowly realizing how much power this thing really has, I would love if I had a gt but I'm working with what I got for now, I was wondering if I can do the dogbone flip on an SE or is that just for the GT/GTP's?

The Dogbone is what holds FWD engine's in place up top. So your motor has at least one. So, yes you can.

Yea it's 3800. I think I found them, didn 't have to look ard just the 2 mount front and center I think. Thanks. I have to take them off anyway to change my plugs and wires. BTW what is a "GT conversion". Is it a kit or something, or just DIY conversion to a GT?

Its the front/rear bumper/side skirts/catback dual exhaust from a GT/GTP. And yes...you DIY it...unless you want to pay out the wazoo for it all from a stealership.

i like when 3800 SE GPs are converted, makes the car seems stock but it means the owner took the time and work to make it look better

That doesn't sound too bad, I do love the lower profile of the GT's. If I can find a gt at a junk yard and the money I'll probably do it. What would it take to pull the Super Charger off a GTP and put it on a 3800 without one?

It's called a Top Swap, look into it.

I'm just curious why they got rid of one. Stock vs Stock the LS4 is more powerful. They weren't intending on this car to be modified beyond stock, at least not much. Did GM simply realize that one was sufficient enough?

I like to think that every blot, nut, etc has a purpsoe on any part of a car... Just my input. They wouldn't spend more money on an engine than they need to. (May be wrong... Sorry.)

he's talking about flipping the rubber bushing in the mount, so the solid part is forward and back instead of top and bottom. It helps to limit the amount of travel. It's pretty common, and not hard to do, you just spray oil on them, tighten down the nut and bolt, and use 2 wrenches to spin them 90 degrees.

Where EXACTLY is this? Any picture you can post up like circling the spot? Engine view? Sorry... I prolly sound dumb as hello.

I changed the spark plugs for the first time on my car and I found the dogbones were really easy to remove, so I'm thinking about doing this mod. My car rides fine, but if it makes it better handling, I'm all for it? Is it a boost to performance at the cost of anything but my time doing it?

Well, it really isn’t a handling mod. It basically takes a little of the slop out of the drive train. Probably the most noticeable difference would be during shifting, a little less motor twist.

I flipped mine over a year ago, can’t say it has made much difference. I’m sure there are ppl that would tell you flipping them (or going solid mounts) is worth a tenth at the track. And they would probably be correct, but for normal driving it is transparent IMHO.

And yes it is free a mod, you basically just need two wrenches, some WD-40 and 10 minutes

there is no handling difference, just less buck when shifting.

Puts more stress on the tranny.

I noticed it and I only drive on the street.

How much more stressful on your tranny would poly mounts be? I have a pair sitting here that im gonna put in soon..
