• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

DNA springs... yep i said it

Hey becky did you use pogo washers or no? Also I have SD headers so I don't think shorter dog bones will be a good idea. Is there an alternative to the dog bones so that the drivetrain geometry will be correct?

i dont have the anti pogo washers yet, but they in the mail, yes..... u will most likely need them.
not sure how this works with headers..... thats out of my league!

some are running th dogbones with the SDs and say the clearance is fine, but the "best" way to do it is to get motor mount spacers. search motor mount spacers on here a guy named vinnie is selling them..... thats the route ill be taking with my drop.

also theres alot of questions being asked in here... may i suggest http://www.grandprixforums.net/want-lower-your-car-look-here-28165.html theres alot of goo info in there.

As stated, Vinnies spacers are a better fix than the shorter dog bones. You should definitely get some anti pogo washers. You can get them straight from GM or from the wbody store. They are cradle spacers so you can also get some from the lower cradle of any 97+ wbody.

How much do you think a standard auto shop would charge to install the engine mount spacers?

You should just install them yourself. All youll need is a jack, a 2x4, Jackstands, and a 15mm deep-socket offset wrench. Did mine in 30 mins... Save the cash bro.

I love working on my own car but never did anything like this and was just wondering if paying it would be "easier" than installing and figuring it out as I go. I read the write-up (I think it was in ClubGP) as how to install them but the pics weren't that great. I could take it to the auto shop on the military installation since they charge a minimal fee to use their facilities, lifts, tools, etc. Plus, they may help! Ok, thanks.

Its like replacing your motor mount which by the way is a PITA but just putting the spacers won't be too hard

If I could get my f**king struts apart I'd have my pics up of my 99 on 20s with 245/35s on it. I finally got the strut out yesterday but I couldnt get the nut off the top that holds the strut mount and everything together. Thanks for the pics becky, you beat me to it lol

please tell me youre using a spring compressor and an impact for the top nut.....

Some of us don't have access to an impact gun man, some of us just are your average driveway mechanics with no room for an air compressor. It happens that way some times

no excuses for not having an impact gun... go electric like me
Electric-Impact-wrench.jpg

he's right. electric is almost nicer than the air ones because they arent regulated by a crappy air supply.

either way, use the right tools or you're going to have serious issues with (dis)assembly.

mine is a cheapo from harbor frieght for $29, i would reccomend a better brand just for the sake of it, but mine hasnt failed on me yet and its got 3 years of dsm hard time on it lol

Hey Becky, now that they've settled, how much wheel gap do you have in back compared to the front? I'm hoping they're slightly higher in rear as advertised.
Also, how stiff do they feel? Feel ok on those stock struts?

i am higher in the rear for sure. and in my opinion, they not stiff at all! rides better then i expected :)

but im still hoping for them to settle a bit more, pic was takin yesterday ( day8 )
