The brand i believe is called black magic? anyway, I want to do window tint but i do not really want to pay what they want to do it. I have a couple of buddys and i have read online is that if you use plenty of soapy water and do your cuts right it lasts a long time and doesnt get bubbly after time. The only problem i may have is that the back window is wider than the strip of tint that you buy it as, so i may have to makea tiny strip on the top/bottom of te window. I will have to be very careful and take my time. Anybody have any write up or tips/reviews? Thanks.

I did my own tint in my focus and the tint held up fine but the cuts looked like ****. Price was right though.

does anyone think that its funny that anyone of us will dig into a motor or trans but wont do tint? just laughed about it a bit

Makes me lol too. ^
I was thinking of doing the tint myself... it didnt look that hard.
I ended up paying a pro to do it.

you wont find the large tint for the back window unless you buy it from a tint shop.

i used these guys off ebay for my back window. items in Precision Window Films Automotive Precut Window Tint Kits store on eBay! they sell pre cut tint, not really pre cut but marked real well, you just need to cut the shape out. do used a straight edge for the straight line cuts.

you can get the whole car for under 50, and trust me you will waste a bunch cutting the tint wrong if its your first time out. watch a bunch of vids on you tube, and get the right tools to install it properly, you will need a heat gun.

i did my own tint job and it came out ok, i need to re do the back as i messed them up and plan on using the guys i linked for the back doors window tint.

i got the back window and the front brow from them. the rest was the brand your talking about.

this is the back window i got on line. 20% they will make you any combo you want front back tint %

the best tip i can give you is to clean your windows real good, razor blades and steel wool for the black edges and defroster on the back window, no razors on the back window, just steel wool and soapy water. do it 3 times if need be, till it looks new.

you need to take out the back seat and rear window deck, over the speakers.

do it in a garage or out of direct sun, or wind. id most of mine out doors at dusk in the shade.

more pics in my sig link.

I think it is bc if you screw up tint everyone can see how crappy it looks. If you screw up your engine only you truly know. Unless it blows up on the highway and stuff lol.

Just pay someone sometimes the flea market can give you a pretty good deal. tint is probably the only thing i hat doing on cars i tinted my brothers van and boyu did it suck but it came out ok. the end result of someone doing turns out alot better and most likely you'll get some kind f warranty so if it bubbles or gets scratched they will redo that piece for free. And tint is one of the first things people notice about a car

i will admit this, the last window i did was the best one. lol the first one has to be redone, the bottom pealed up. the other back window i scraped it, 2 nice slices into it loading crap in or out of my car.

cutting it free hand blows, especially with framed windows.

oh take the inside door skin off and the rubber stop at the top of the door. you'll never slide it in there and and make it look good, trust me, i tried, my first cut piece went in the trash.

I say go for it. if it doesn't turn out how you like pull it off and do it again. sooner or later you will get good at it and can charge the fraidy-cats to do theirs. also a buddy of mine worked at a tint shop and he said they use johnsons baby shampoo to soap their water. Never tried it myself so take it as a grain of salt...probably worth a try though, although he was a remote start installer at the shop he did tint his windows several times...(lots of tint tickets...lol)

I used to tint cars way back in the day. But we had templates that we'd made for a ton of different cars. (It just sucked when you had to make the template) So it was a pretty quick job. Now they have CAD type machines that cut it for you for each specific vehicle. Its up to you if you want to take on the challenge. You gotta start somewhere.

Cutting the tint is only part of the job. Dealing with the curves of the glass is a completely different issue.

OKay, so i clicked on scottydoggs link about the precut and all window kit pre cut is less than 20 bucks and the rear window (one piece tint) is less than 15 bucks. I think im gunna try this and see how it works. Less than 40 bucks for tint? Ill try it. Is their tint any good? i couldnt find any reviews on it.

Pretty simple with a heat gun.

heat gun is the most important tools for doing tint work. as you may or not know, you cut and size the tint to the outside of the glass, if you get a finger, the heat gun removes it, if you get fingers and don't take them out, you will never get rid of it on the inside.

i needed the gun for one door window, the back window i spent a hour easy shrinking it to fit, and the brow as well.

for the back window its a good idea to have a friend help toss it up and get it on the glass, if it falls off before you can get it squeegeed on you wont be happy at all. it will get creases in the film. tint seems to get brittle after heated up and shrunk to fit.

and taping off the back of the headliner would be a good idea, its going to get wet. mine started to fall off after, but i glued it back up.

i e mailed them and googled their address, they are a tint shop in fl, this is the tint they install on customers cars. it is died tint, but mines up for a year and is still black, no purple at all. they told me they have this tint made to their own specs.

if you read the reviews on their ebay page, any complaints are due to installer failure. or lack of any sense.

like i said watch a few hours of you tube tint install vids and give it a shot, its not that hard, just take your time, and clean the glass really good.
