Hey everyone, hopefully someone can help me out. I follwed the directions of the bottle of prestone flush, but have some concers.

The bottle said to open the drain plug, drain the fluid, close the plug. Add the super flush, fill with water, run for 10 min with heat on high, then drain. Repeat process with water, drain. Then fill with new coolant.

My problem is i only had about no more than 4 litres of coolant come out each time. I did NOT have the engine running while the coolant was draining. Shoul I have left the plug open and drained while running the engine? The manual says it take 11 litres of cooant, but only around 4 came out, so there lots still left in there.

I didnt even get to put one full bottle of coolant in.

Thanks for all your help!

the ideal way is to drain it, then refill with water, get up to temp(including putting heater on) then after up to temp, drain it, then add the super flush, up to temp and heater on again, drain, heat up to temp w/heat after refilling with water, drain, and finally add coolant to fill entire system up...

11 liters is for a completely empty system. Doing what you did will not get all of it out. And no, you should not run the engine with the drain open.

There is coolant in the heater core, around the engine, trans cooler lines and in some of the hoses. You could fill it, drive it and then after a few miles, drain it again in hopes of the new mixing with the old and then replaced again.

Honestly, I just drain the radiator, fill with running water, once filled with cap off turn on car and run with heater on. Leave the hose on filling the radiator, yes water will overflow, run car for 15 minutes it will not over heat because you are filling the radiator with cold water... Once water runs clear, turn off car, wait 20 minutes to cool off, drain by removing lower radiator hose and refill with coolant. leave radiator cap off to bleed air out of system and fill as necessary. Drive around, should be good, fill overflow if necessary.
